BF 1942 backup

Trying to back up Battle Field 1942. Clony XXL v 2.06 says its safe disk 2.52. Im using the newest version of clone cd i downloaded yesterday. v 4. something. I am running XP pro with :
2400XP+
MSI kt4v
lite on 48126s
768 pc2100
Radeon 9700 pro

I used the game profile(I think) and shut off amplify weak sectors. read speed was 4x write was max. sound quallity was good..fast error skip on...close last session was enabled...im at work and thats all i can remember about the settings for sure lol. Ive made 2 coasters so far. they will work on the pc the game is installed, but not my test puter. The regular game disk works in the test puter to install, but my copy does not. HELP!

Use the latest CloneCD or Alcohol 120%. You don't need to read at 4x, read at max. And the 1.2 patch upped the protection to 2.8...

Well im getting closer! Now when I install on test puter, it will see the disk and install. 80percent through the 2nd disk, it fails and setup stops. Also the first disk I made will not work in the pc where the game is installed already. Says it cant see the disk and reinsert. Im using the newest clone cd v 4.2.0.2 and clony XXL 2.0.1.1a with the ccd profiler set to protected pc games. settings i used on this run were:
intelligent bad sector scanner checked
100 sector skip
fast error skip Auto
Max read for Data
Max read for audio
Audio extraction good
Max write speed
Emulate weak sectors
Dont repair subchannel data is checked
Always close last session is checked
How do i know these are the settings getting used? It looked like it was reading at 4x and writing at 8x Im running a litey 48126s. Can this writer work to make a backup of this Game?

Lots of questions, and for that I'm sorry. I'm a newb at this. I've made perfect backups of medal of honor, but have probs with the new safe disk.

Yes.

Either use alcohol or the discdump/fireburner combo. Both are reliable for copying safedisc 2.8 protected games (which is what bf1942 uses after the update is installed).

It is really difficult stipulating where your problem is exactly judging by the information given

If you could possibly explain in detail as to

- what is the exact settings that you are using both in reading and writing? By that I mean I need to know what FES settings have you used ?

- Did you use sector Emulation during writing?

- Do you have a separate Reader and Writer?

- Did you remember to set the errror correction method of your burner to hardware and not software which is chosen by default?

- What media you are using ?

- Which device are you using to play your burned copy,
writer ? reader?

- If you use your writer to play your burned copy have you remembered to use hide CDR Media.

given the burner that you have there should be no need for you to just use Dameon.

If you can give a bit more info. then we might be able to pin point you problem better.

Thanks for your reply..these are the settings and exactly how i did it...

In CCD Profiler VI.I I clicked "Editmodus" then open profile and selected protected P.C. Game. Then clicked "open." Teh settings shown are: Intelligent Sectors Scanner is checked. Sector Skip is 100. fast error skip says ON. Read Speed Datat Max. Read speed Audio is MAX. Audio extraction quality is set to GOOD. Write speed is MAX. Emulate is set for WEAK Sectors. Don't repair subchannel Data is checked. Then I save profile as Battlefield. Then click start CloneCD v4.2.0.2. Click read to image file. I select my litey, right click and settings under capabilities allow reading of subchannel data from data tracks is checked. Allow reading of subchannel data from audio tracks is checked. Allow reading of CD text is checked for audio CD's. FES read retries to set to 0. Error correction is set to hardware. Then I click next. I select the Battlefield profile I saved, right click and settings under data read settings. Speed MAX, read subchannel data from data tracks is not checked, regenerate data sectors is not checked. Audio read settings....read speed Max, audio extraction set to good, read subchannel data for audio is not checked. only read first session is not checked. Error Harding...FES is on. Intelligent bad sector scanner is checked, sector skip is set at 100.

I know I repeated myself with the settings but I just wanted to show that they didn't change when I loaded the profile.

I used the same drive to play the game as I did to burn it. Where is hide CDR media located?

The media I'm using is Memorex 700meg 80 min 40x writ speed.

Clone CD BF1942

#4. Start Clony XXL with your BF1942_CD1 in your CD-ROM, click "Scan CD" then proceed and click "Start CloneCD"

Step

#5. CloneCD will Start, click "READ TO IMAGE FILE"...Then you select "_ClonyXXL" Profile, click NEXT, save the .CCD file to any directory you want.

Step

#6. Click "ok" . IT will take a while copy the entire CD to your harddrive as an image, so go have a beer or something..
btw have a beer? Make that 8 to 10.. Will be about 1 or 2 Hour's.

Step

#7. Put a CD-R into your CD Burner. Start up CloneCD --> Select "WRITE FROM IMAGEFILE"

Step

#8. Browse and find the "BF1942_1.CCD" file you created.

Step

#9. Click next, select the "_ClonyXXL" Profile again and then burn! IMPORTANT : There, so long as you have Buffer-Underrun Technology and Correct EFM-Encoding on your CD-Burner, you will have just created a succesful 1:1 copy of your Battlefield 1942 CD

#1. You can repeate all the steps again to create CD

#2 (Just make sure you name the .CCD file to BF1942_2.CCD) And makes sure you SELECT the "_ClonyXXL" profile! The whole reason you use ClonyXXL is to scan for cd protection, and by clicking start CloneCd, it imports the Settings you need for that specific protection. So it's imperative that you follow this guide to a T. Anyways, I hope this helps. It worked great for me, I got a nice copy of my BF1942 CD's and can safely put store the other ones.

Thanks for the reply...the prob with the plan above is the old clony XXL v 2.06 says the protection is 2.52. As was mentioned before the update to the game made the protection2.8. I tried to make the backup exactly as you mentioned above more than once with the same result. Cant find cd. I only use one drive to burn and to play.

The new Clony XXL version 2.0.1.1a says the protection is 2.6? Anyway you can not select start clone cd.exe from Clony anymore, it is no longer included in the progam. You have to use the profiler v1.1 from the same site. (that makes since huh). From there you can strt Clone CD.exe and import settings.

So with the hide cdr media selected, i can play the game and the backup works. It also works WITHOUT hide cdr media and using daemon tool's safe disk emulator. Are these the same thing? I dont think so but the end result is the same. I guess with the safe disk enabled the writer thinks it's a store bought CD and the program allows it to work. Without, the writer tells the program it's a cdr and it wont work. Just a guess on my part. Im learning as I go. Love this stuff. This is a great site, and has helped me out a ton.

Thanks to all! Cricket

P.S. it also only took me about 10 mins to read and 2 mins to write!

All you need to remember is that for Safe Disk ,< 2.8X protections you need to have the FES enabled when you read and noting.

For Safe Disk >2.8X the error correction method changes to Emulate sectors.

Also make sure that you untick the ability to amplify sectors in your liteon burner as this options is not needed in Liteon burners and can possibly lead to a bad burn as far as a Safe Disk 2.8X protection is concerned.

FYI, I was able to make a full working backup of Battlefield 1942, and it works with the v1.2 patch also.

Hardware used:
Asus CRW1610a
Toshiba SD-M1612
CCD v4.1.0.1 > used the "Safedisc 2 Custom.ccp" that I got here at Cdfreaks.com
Memorex 80min CDR

I have verified that my backup copy will work in the Toshiba 1612, with the v1.2 patch installed in the game.

Am I just lucky?

I used blindwrite for such games like Spearhead which are heavier protections so im sure it would be the same case for this.

Able to back up with Clone CD 4.2.0.2

Had no problem doing backup with LiteOn 48125W....just had to enable hide cdr media. Used burner to read and write, play game in creative 1241E. Plays fine...Used default settings on clone cd and went without a hitch.

Why is it, when people post for advice about CloneCD, many people say "just use xXx app"? The questions are about CloneCD in the CloneCD Forum for god's sake! Why aren't the Mods clamping down on these unhelpful answers?

The simplest answer for SD2 and yYy burner is to advise using Emulation in the latest version; at least the backup will work until, maybe, the next version of SD2.

If another is to be recommended, it should be couched in a more intelligent response than just "use Alcohol, or Blindwrite!".

HI! I don't know if you've already backed up the game, but let me give you some advice! With the use of the latest Alcohol and the settings for safedisc 2 you should be able to back up the game, if you've got a burner that supports correct EFM writing! Otherwise, search for a crack, their should be some at www.gamecopyworld.com or at www.megagames.com at the rubric of "Game Fixes".

I followed all instructions i first made a image file (with the profile: Safedisk 2(.51) [AWS]) and made the disk with that image file but now when i put that disk in my drive it doesn't work, i just see that bf startup logo my disk makes some noise and than the logo disapears and than nothing happens,

i got a _NEC CD-RW NR-9100A burner

(btw i use clone CD)
