You cannot remove the ATIP info since it's on a part of the CD-R where the writer cannot write data. You must use a tool like Hide CDR Media or a No-CD crack. Of course you could just play the game from a standard CD-ROM or DVD-ROM..

Of course this would be illegal and not allowed on this forum

Even if you own the original disc? This is so confusing to me

I thought that posting links to cracks was illegal.

Maybe it's time to brush up on those conditions of use again.

As long as you own something you can do almost everything with it.
Except for reverse-engineering it and selling it in your name.
Unless you're in Russia that is.

Posting links to copyrighted material is, in Sweden, allowed.
How it is on this forum I think our nice moderators can tell us.

There, now I have refreshed your memories.

I think it is clearly stated in our rules what is and what is not allowed.

CD Freaks is all about CD writing and making backup copies for personal use, insofar it is legal and you own the originals. CD Freaks does not want to be involved, nor associated with illegal practices.

This means that all references to cracks and serials are not alloewd. You are not allowed to ask for cracks and/or serials, nor you are allowed to post (links to) them. Of course it also means that any mention of how to find/create a crack and/or serial is also not allowed.

I cannot speak for all mods/admins, but here's my policy:
When the post is questionable, I will close it.
When the post is an obvious violation I will delete it.

If the user violates more than one rule or violates the rules repeatedly, (s)he will get a warning through PM first. If the user then continues to violate the rules his/her account will be disabled. Should that user register again under another name and cause trouble again his/her IP will be banned (and yes, this has already happened several times unfortunately).

When you feel we have treated you unfair or you disagree with the decision taken, you can PM me and explain why. If you are correct (and I was wrong) we can go from there (closed topic may be reopend; deleted topics cannot be restored though).

We try to be fair and keep this a nice place for all. Sometimes it takes a lot of time, that I personally would have rather spent on answering questions, so please help us to keep this forum clean and enjoyable for all.

What about locating the exact area where it's stored and scratching it?

And how would you suggest locating and removing the *exact* position of the ATIP ? Cannot be done.

That's true, however, very few people own a game they go to BestBuy/Fry's/CompUSA/etc. to buy. They own a liscence to use that game.

According to this thread:

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread....highlight=atip

ATIP is all over the cdr, not just on one place. Apparently ATIP is also used by the writer to determine its position on the disc.

Is this true? How come that almost nobody around here knows that? (If you use search, several questions on the location of ATIP has been submitted, but in only one somebody (Spath) gives an answer which sound knowledgeable to me...)

[added]
If Atip is all over the cd-r, isn't it destroyed while burning the cd-r?
