Re: amazon.com

The service went beyond what one usually can expect

for me i just really like the site layout. most always have reviews, good product details and description, nice shipping information and easy tracking. i know other sites have related items and buy together deals, but i really like how amazon has made it all come together well. then to top it all off ive received excellent deals from the other merchants selling through amazon.

Re: amazon.com

Everything is usually way beyond expected. Very good information on the website and fast shipping even the free shipping option. And from the only RMA I had, they handled them very professionally. Since it was the first RMA I called them to ask about shipping and surprisingly they cover the return shipping!

Re: amazon.com

Yo-

Amazon is my second most favorite buying site (right behind Newegg) and their return policy is the best on the Internet - e.g. if you don't like it or it doesn't fit - they provide a return prepaid label and off it goes and the refund is posted back to your credit card account within two weeks - now that is service (and beats Neweggs)-eh!!!

The only thing I purchased from amazon was a online gift certificate which went well with no problems.

Re: amazon.com

I've always wondering about amazon. After these good replies, I think I'll give it a shot. I was looking at these two items on ebay

However, I think I'll try Amazon for them now.

Cheers

Re: amazon.com

The marketplace at Amazon.de, the German division of Amazon.com, has the best prices for media in Europe, because the prices of the big Luxembourg dealers like Damrotech.com and shoXX.com are actually lower there than in their own web shops (Luxembourg dealers usually have the best prices in Europe due to the lack of GEMA (and similar) royalties there). Add the good service of Amazon (easy payment, fast shipping etc.), and you have a winner combination.

I just paid ~€45 for 200 16x DVD+R and DVD-R Verbatim discs (4 x 50pcs), including shipping that is (~€8.50 a 50pcs cake without shipping). Highly recommended, especially for German users.

Re: amazon.com

when trying to buy my new ls burner, I ran into unbelievable problems because I could only use paypal or my prepaid visa giftcard. For some reason, Paypal was showing unconfirmed shipping address, so I was out of luck at zipzoomfly, newegg, geeks, meritline, and others. After two weeks of headaches with customer service at all of the above, I found relief at amazon.com - major credit card giftcards accepted!! Was able to buy from Geeks.com ( which actually had the lowest price) through them a-ok no hassles. Would probably have done this first if the product had been in stock when I first started looking. BUT, I am not sure if this was hassle free because I had ordered from amazon before and so had address on file. ANybody else have issues with prepaid cards?

Re: amazon.com

Perhaps a tie for first with NewEgg. Always fast, always correct, alway no BS with returns. Like that great Seinfeld episode, you can say, "I'm returning this out of spite" and Amazon will say, "OK".

I download albums, buy obscure books that I can't find elsewhere and purchase electronics from them. Cool store, worth the online trip.

I've ordered many products from Amazon. No problems as of yet, my only issue is their shipping costs. Even then, with Amazon being one of the biggest sites on the net, chances are they will do fine :P

Amazon always number 1 for me. And normally cheaper than the others as well. Hard act for the others to follow. Just my 2 cents!

Re: amazon.com

I have had good luck with Amazon. I don't care for how you sometimes end up in a "merchants store" as I wound prefer to buy from Amazon proper. Just last week I bought an O2 sensor for my car, surprised as h*ll that they had it, and it was $25 cheaper than anyone local. I would not have thought of using Amazon for auto parts. So it goes.......

Re: amazon.com

I have had very good experiences with Amazon. Last spring I ordered a Smoker/grill with the side box, it weighed approx. 140 lbs. and had free shipping. Other sites I checked wanted $70-$100 for shipping alone.

Yo-

Lately I have been comparing Newegg prices with Amazon prices and in my case (living in California) the Amazon price is cheaper and the added bonus is NO sales tax-eh!!

Re: amazon.com

A great store. Even if you pay a few bucks more (and never much more, their prices are always close to the best by design), the excellent return policy and quick ship seals the deal. I have probably executed 100 transactions by now for the last 5 years, no problems whatsoever.

Re: amazon.com

My one and only experience with Amazon was horrible and I'll not use them again unless they are my only option.

About 16 months ago I ordered an A/V distribution amp from them because they had the best delivered price. It was advertised as new and as being shipped by AntOnline.com -- a fairly highly rated mass shipper of electronics, etc.

What I received was an obviously used, scratched/dented unit in a box that had been re-taped several times, originating from the Amazon returns department instead of AntOnline as advertized! Called Amazon CS (out-sourced to India) and eventually got my message across. They appologized and specifically agreed to have a new, factory sealed replacement sent at their expense, along with free return shipping of the first one. Sounded good to me.

The next week I get another beat up used Dist. Amp originating from the Amazon returns department instead of the new one from AntOnline they were still advertising. Called CS again and got the runaround. They had me confused with a furniture order and wanted me to pay for return shipping of the furniture AND both amps ASAP or they were going to charge my CC for the second amp!

I left several messages with Amazon USA CS department but never heard back. My bank wouldn't do anything until 90 days had passed on the transition. Contacted AntOnline a few times to let them know Amazon was falsely listing them as the shipper of this item, but no response. Wrote a bad user review at Amazon but they never posted it. (Big surprise...) Wrote a bad review at ResellerRatings.com and Amazon never responded.

Eventually got the India branch of Amazon CS to clear things up and pay for return shipping of the used items and credit my CC for the original purchase, but it took over a month, many contacts, and mucho aggrevation on my end to do so. In the end it made me very leery of ever again doing business with Amazon. They clearly are so large that they:

* Can get away with false advertising.
* Have no genuine concern for satisfied customers.
* Can get away with pretty much anything they want and have no sense of accountability from any of their support channels.
* Use like-minded vendor associates (like AntOnline).

I've certainly learned that seeking the lowest delivered price on an item, even from a well known source like Amazon, may very well be hiding something: like even if it is advertised as "new" expect to receive "used". Everywhere else false advertising is illegal -- except at Amazon...

Re: amazon.com

i have ordered a couple things from Amazon over the years and basically had no problems although when i wrote a review on a item it was never posted which it's pretty obvious there only selecting reviews that 'completely' praise there products.

because the item i ordered i was basically happy with but in my review i left some comments about it that where not 100percent positive and im guessing they just decided to not post it (and it was nothing that they could not post either like swearing etc etc.. it was a legitimate review to). which is wrong because it's making it so everything is biased in favor of them etc etc.

all in all ill use Amazon if i have to but in general places like newegg.com are FAR more trustworthy (newegg is my place of choice for general electronic related stuff like dvd media/cd-dvd burners/ memory etc etc) and have a great reputation on returns etc etc.

so basically i think the review above mine has some truth to it .. because he also said he left a review that was NOT posted.

I order things about twice a month from Amazon and cant really complain. Sometimes the postage is a little slow but then looking at the size of the whole operation I cant complain. Never had to complain about the quality of the goods sold and never had to return anything. I have bought quite a lot of Amazon gift vouchers as birthday and Christmas presents over the years and they have gone done very well. Just look how they have expanded into so many different things now when it used to be just CD's and books at the start.

Overall 9/10 for me.

The only problem that I ever had with Amazon is a while back, I ordered Ghostbusters 2, and waited for it. It never came. I wrote to Amazon and they sent another copy (that did come.) Great service.
