| DVDFab Platinum - iPod 4:3 vs. 16:9 I've converted a number of DVDs to iPod format using DVDFab Platinum. Recently I've been using the new 5.5g profile, and have been using the 640x480 setting. Should I be using different options for standard 4:3 versus 16.9 widescreen or is 640x480 good for both? Thanks... Randy Last edited by Magic_Randy; 13-06-2007 at 07:29.. |

| Re: DVDFab Platinum - iPod 4:3 vs. 16:9 Hi Randy. Use whatever works best for the way you watch the output. Some older movies will have black bars on the sides if you use one of the 16:9 (1.8) sizes (based on what was found to fix the problem for a user in another thread).

| Re: DVDFab Platinum - iPod 4:3 vs. 16:9 And, I think I may be that user from the other thread. And what (with help from signals) I've found is that you have to look at how the movie was encoded on the DVD. If it's 4x3 use 640x480 even if the movie claims to be widescreen. If the movie really is encoded 16x9 then use a setting that is closer to an 1.8 aspect ratio like 640x352. |

| Re: DVDFab Platinum - iPod 4:3 vs. 16:9 Thanks for the tips. I'll use 640x480 for movies encoded 4:3 and 640x352 for movies encoded 16:9. I'm trying to upgrade some of my files in preparation for the iPhones. Randy |

| Re: DVDFab Platinum - iPod 4:3 vs. 16:9 Umm.. just a heads up, if the movie is truly 16:9 and you use 640x352 you STILL have black bars on the left and right sides of the video. This program sucks! It can't do a simple 16:9??
