VIDEO_TS rip on HDD | Using ImgBurn to burn | Does not seem to work

Burning from VIDEO_TS folders using Imgburn
I read up on that and seems to be easy. But not so when I tried it. Just added to my coaster collection!

I tried to burn a DVD from a rip (film: Shawshank R..), stored on my HDD in VIDEO_TS folder, using Imgburn.

It didnt work and all I got out of it is a lousy coaster!

Help!

ImgBurn creates a log, why don't you post it. BTW if you were trying to make this a link, it didn't work.

Re: VIDEO_TS rip on HDD | Using ImgBurn to burn | Does not seem to work

please use build mode. have you read the official *cough* guides from Lighting UK! and cornholio7 ?

How to write DVD Video (IFO/BUP/VOB) files to a double layer disc
http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=4643

Burning DVD Video files directly to single layer media with ImgBurn
http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=4632

as beef barley asked, please post the burn log.

edit// from your other thread you asked "I wanted to know if there any specific settings I should pay attention to before doing a burn from VIDEO_TS to DVD." no you should not have to change anything. (except burn speed)

@ beef barley: I've taken the part of the log which I believe relates to the burn in question.

And no, that was just to label or highlight the topic of my query. Wasn't sposed to be a hyperlink.

@Troy:
I did follow the guides. On reading it, and the way the guides are laid out, it appeared to be pretty easy. So easy even I could manage it!! But I hit a snag somewhere.

Something is badly wrong with your image. It is only 1Mb. There's no video in there!

You need to drag the VIDEO_TS folder containing all your project's IFO, VOB and BUP files onto the ImgBurn Build mode GUI. And go from there. (It appears you have only dragged the 6kb VIDEO_TS.IFO file there).

Also, remember to verify your burn.

Regards

I thought that the size was too small and also the time it took to 'burn' seemed to be too short also.

The question is, what did I do wrong?

Quote:
PS: I just had another look at the folder.
The Shawshank folder shows:
  • VIDEO_TS BUP 6kb
  • VIDEO_TS IFO 6kb
  • VTS_01_1 4,570,958 kb
I ran the burn from the IFO.

Yup!
That's where my error is.
Thanks!

Re: VIDEO_TS rip on HDD | Using ImgBurn to burn | Does not seem to work

Seems to be a jinx on my Shawshank burn experiment!
I think now I have a handle on the process of burning DVD from IFO/VOB/BUP files.
But now ImgBurn throws up a 'size too big' error'

Here's the log, if that helps. Is there anyway I can get this rip VIDEO_TS to a DVD?

Code:
I 11:41:27 ImgBurn Version 2.4.0.0 started!
I 11:41:27 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2)
I 11:41:27 Total Physical Memory: 1,038,452 KB - Available: 257,036 KB
I 11:41:29 Initialising SPTI...
I 11:41:29 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...
I 11:41:29 Found 1 DVD±RW!
I 11:41:58 Operation Started!
I 11:41:58 Building Image Tree...
I 11:41:58 Checking Directory Depth...
I 11:41:58 Calculating Totals...
I 11:41:58 Preparing Image...
E 11:42:02 Operation Failed! - Duration: 00:00:03
I 11:42:04 Close Request Acknowledged
I 11:42:04 Closing Down...
I 11:42:06 Shutting down SPTI...
I 11:42:06 ImgBurn closed!
I just might have to redo the rip all over again and then burn it on the DVD.

Re: VIDEO_TS rip on HDD | Using ImgBurn to burn | Does not seem to work

i think you need to re-read this guide. seems you didnt use the calculator. also if you rip with dvdfab the movie will be compressed to fit a SL dvd. so just use all default settings for imgburn (expect 8x write speed). if you follow my video for dvdfab and imgburn you only have to change three settings in imgburn.

All my rips which are currently in 'folders' had been done before I got 'clever' with DVD Shrink and DVDDecrypter etc. Then DVDFab found me!

A number of the old rips are too big.

Thanks for your help though.

Glad to see you made it over here!

You probably already know but just in case, you can use DVDFab or Shrink to make the video fit on SL discs from the files you have ripped to the hard drive.

This is not a DVD compliant project.

1. There is no IFO for VTS 1
2. The VOBs should be 1Gb max (1.048,574 kb)

Only God knows how you made it, but don't bother burning it. It won't work.

Start again from scratch: Rip --> Transcode --> Burn
