How can I tell if my Dvd player supports the seamless option? Is seamless the best way to go if a DVD player supports seamless?

Burn one with the seamless box checked & try it, yes it is the better way.

If you have the original disk then just use read and you will have the original layer break.

Seamless is the best way to go, if your player supports it (most seem to). That way, you will never notice the layer break, which is soooo annoying, IMO.

The problem with this is most people like to use 'read' mode in ImgBurn, and this does not allow the "seamless" setting. You have to rip to harddrive first and then you lose your ability to make a 1:1 copy.

You get 1 for 1 either way, ISO Read/ISO Write or full rip & use ImgBurn in Build Mode.

Actually, if you delete the MDS file ImgBurn has to parse the IFO files to 'guess' at potential layer break positions in the same way it does it in Build mode.

I'm pretty sure you can enable the 'Seamless' option that way.

I just did this as well with the movie 300. I just went into settings and under 'read' set the MDS to no, so it made no mds file. I then loaded the ISO and when I clicked 'write' it asked me to set layer break.

My question would be, during build mode it gave me a couple options, after the read and then write, it only gave me the original as an option.

You can't 'pad' anything when burning an image so the cell must already be positioned on an LBA that's a multiple of the ECC blocking factor (i.e. 16)

Im not sure what you guys mean. When I read the image as an ISO with no MDS it gave me one option the original. If there is no MDS how would it not give more options? When using build it gives me several.

So even without the MDS the ISO basically has the layerbreak saved?

Because none of the other cells are aligned on an LBA that's divisible by 16.

Only cells on an LBA divisible by 16 are valid for a layer break position.

In Build mode, it doesn't matter about that because ImgBurn can insert 'padding' (empty sectors) to align the cells nicely.
