Hi, I just bought an external samsung dual layer dvd writer, and was trying to burn an xbox 360 game to a blank dl dvd+r. I did everything right, I think: saved the .ISO, created a .dvd file with the layer break info, set the layerbreak on IMGBurn to 1913760, and started burning. Then IMGBurn burns the image (100% completion), and, in "verify" mode, the following message appears at the 50% mark:

When I insert the dvd into the xbox360, it says something like "invalid disk"
What am I doing wrong??? I already wasted 2 dl dvds and they aren´t exactly cheap!

what fw are you running on the xbox360 ?

cause iXtreme is pickier than the older firmwares in terms of making a "proper" copy... as you gotta get the SS-PFI-DMI instead of just the SS like on older fw's.

if you dont use xbox live and have a samsung ms25/ms28 drive then use either Xtreme 5.2 (or 5.3) fw as it has more features than the iXtreme fw.

also, get the "textbook.pdf" file as it has damn nice info for general fw flashing and making backups.... you can download it here... http://www.360mods.net/Downloads/get=61.html

and yes those Verbatim DVD+R DL discs are the best you can get.... the pioneer 111d (or drive similar) are recommended for xbox360 games in general... i have a lite-on 1673s drive myself and i burn @4x in ImgBurn.... although the general recommended burning speed for xbox360 games is 2.4x

I don´t know the f/w version of the 360 drive, but is LG and I flashed it early this year, so it´s an old one, not ixtreme... maybe the problem is with my burner, because it´s an external usb one???

i see ... u got a hitachi drive then in your xbox360... and since you said it was old, it aint as picky with backups.

i aint no expert, but i would think it being external is a good chance something is acting up... is there any internal burner you can try? ... cause thats probably the first thing i would do is try a internal dvd burner and burn @ 2.4x (no faster than 4x)

also, make sure your using the newest fw for whatever drive your using to burn those xbox360 backups... as thats probably a good idea to check to

Unfortunately, I don´t, just this one (my old dvd internal drive, which I used to make 360 backups recently broke, so I bought this external one), and already upgraded to the latest firmware. well... so the only way to go is buying originals, right?

u already have the originals right? ... cause if you dont, i dont think i can help you since it's against the rules i think.

but anyways you can buy a internal dvd burner for rather cheap on newegg.com (if you live in USA) for like roughly 30-40 out the door
