Need help with I/O Error in DVD Decrypter and Imgburn

Hi

I've been trying to backup a couple of new PS2 games yesterday. Burn prosess seemed fine, but the discs wouldn't load.
I've backed up over 300 titles with the same media, so I figured it had to be something to do with my ASPI drivers.
Searched the net, and found updates for ForceASPI 1.8 and installed them. Checked my firmware for my burner, and it's up to date.

The problems started right after the restart... opened DVD Decrypter and got an I/O error. Tried hundreds of installs and re-installs of both software and ASPI drivers, but with the same error.
Tried to install IMGburn, but it also gives the same I/O error.

I/O Error!

Device: [0:2:0] (K (ATA)
ASPI SRB Status: 0x00
Interpretation: SRB Being Processed

Host AdapterStatus: 0x00
Interpretation: Host Adapter Did Not Detect An Error

Target Status: 0x00
Interpretation: Good

CDB: 12 00 00 00 38 00
Interpretation: Inquiry

Sense Area: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Interpretation: No Additional Sense Information

Then I can press Retry or Cancel
It lets me enter the program, but I'm unable to use ASPI mode.
Another problem is that none of my backups works when burned in SPTI mode.

My specs
Windows XP SP2
Nec ND-2510a Firmware 2.19

Any Help Would Be Appreciated

Re: Need help with I/O Error in DVD Decrypter and Imgburn

welcome to the forum

ASPI sucks, the only good aspi is a dead one, you just hosed your bus even worse than before

http://www.bustrace.com/products/devfilter.htm

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=k...4060&x=12&y=13

if those don't work your problems go very deep?

Have you reloaded windows lately?

Is it missing drivers or corrupt?

Re: Need help with I/O Error in DVD Decrypter and Imgburn

Thanx for replying

My XP works as well as XP can, really... If you mean reloaded windows as in restarted windows the answer is yes... about 1000 times since this prob occured.
But if you mean re-installed windows, that's a negative.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Funny thing...

Tried one last thing and copied wnaspi32.dll from nero dir to system32 dir. Restarted and IMGburn did not show any errors. The burning of the backup on the other hand is still awaiting it's verdict. Will post the results...

If it fails, I will definately look into your advice...

After the the burned disc was finished, popped it into my PS2, but it didn't boot. Took the same disc and had a look at it with nero infotool. It told me that the disc was open and not finalized. Checked IMGburn to see if there was an option to tick off finalizing, but didn't find it anywhere.
Will try another burn, with Nero this time, with the option finalize disc ticked off.

After another try with Nero, with the option finalize disc ticked off, Neroinfotool still tells me that the disc is open and not finalized.
What the hell???

Re: Need help with I/O Error in DVD Decrypter and Imgburn

those aspi installers usually come with a killaspi file, won't bother nero

use imgburn to post your tools/filter driver load order

get back to using spti

Also tried another backup/burn. This time Guitar Hero II. Same results as earlier.

When you make a backup using spti mode, do you have to use spti mode when burning it too? Can you mix up the backup (spti) and burn (aspi) with success?
Let's say for instance i borrow a backup from a friend. He's backupped his game with ASPI mode on his CPU. Can I make a backup using SPTI mode from the disc I borrowed from him?

Re: Need help with I/O Error in DVD Decrypter and Imgburn

SPTI was designed for windows 2000/XP

nero's aspi is about the only good one

elby is another good one

remove those extra filters, imapi and redbook are the only safe ones and even they are not needed

eliminate nero from the equation and test with imgburn, reboot after removing filters

that nec drive is pretty old, sure it's not dying??????????

Re: Need help with I/O Error in DVD Decrypter and Imgburn

thanx for the help so far...

But this filter stuff is relatively new to me. Not sure how to uninstall them. Should I just delete pfc.sys and pxhelp20.sys from \%windir%\system32\drivers

Am I going to keep the imapi and redbook filters, and uninstall Pfc and PXHelp20?

Any idea where I got those drivers from ? For future reference

Edited the reg and deleted the references to the lower filters. Restarted and opened devfilter. this is what it looks like:

Looks like all's well. Will try another burn with Imgburn using SPTI mode. Let's hope I don't get anymore coasters...

imgburn would have done all that for you, just highlight the filter and hit remove, I hate regedit

did you kill aspi?

forgot to kill APSI... And as suspected... another coaster. Will give it another go after I've restarted.

By the way. Imgburn reports my filters as this:

Re: Need help with I/O Error in DVD Decrypter and Imgburn

no luck so far... Tried another burn... Tried to access the dvd in win explorer, but shows up blank, it doesn't load.
Then i tried the verify option in Imgburn, to compare the dvd to the image.
Then I got a new I/O error... It says:

Device: [0:2:0] _NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A 2.19 (K (ATA)

Scsi Status: 0x02
interpretation: check condition

CDB: 28 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00

Can choose cancel continue or retry

It seems that the disc isn't finalized. The dvd has been burned as I checked every dvd I've tried so far.

Here's a disc report from imgburn

Re: Need help with I/O Error in DVD Decrypter and Imgburn

thanx for your patience

I threw out my DVD writer and put back in an old one, wich ofcource doesn't support my media (Atapi DVD dual max4 from 2003), but i was able to burn an audio cd. It worked like a charm, so it seems that my Nec drive is busted... I have another DVD writer on another cpu, and I'm going to try that one too... Will post back as soon as possible

Re: Need help with I/O Error in DVD Decrypter and Imgburn

he he he... you just couldn't help yourself could you

Anyway... innocent until proven guilty. As far as I'm concerned I could have named the ISO myself.

I've installed my daughters DVD writer in my own PC, just to save myself the hassle with driver issues in xp. Tried to burn an audio cd and it was a success. Win explorer reads the cd.

Then I tried to burn another backup of PS2 with Nero, but that didn't work.

Tried another burn with Nero, Guitar Hero II, and all of a sudden it worked. Windows showed the files and ps2 booted the game. Tried another burn of the interesting search you did, and behold... success.
The only thing i canged in nero was the write speed (as far as i know)

Anyways... thanx for sticking out with me

Btw... any tips on what kind of burner I should buy, since I will replace my old one?

Re: Need help with I/O Error in DVD Decrypter and Imgburn

since you seem to be going down that black hole of game backups which ends with xbox modded flashed 360's and dual layer disks
I would go for a pioneer 112D

I like the newer samsung drives also but pioneer seems to rule dual layer
