Oh I totally agree.. although *most* of those guides are extremely outdated.

I'm looking for an in-depth guide on how to configure the "Build" tab for a DVD-Video compliant ISO.

Any suggestions, anyone?

Thx alan for your input nevertheless.

Re: ImgBurn version 2.3.0.0

The default settings are the best and will produce a DVD-Video compliant ISO.

ImgBurn is actually quite clever and will point out any issues it finds with your current config if it thinks you're trying to build a DVD Video image/disc.

Re: ImgBurn version 2.3.0.0

@zoinburgs,
I'm with LUK on this. LOL. LIke I wouldn't be. hehehe.

I've done many BUILDs and it's so easy that I can do it. Just give it a whirl and see what happens. The worst thing you may have to do is delete it and try again. If you have any reservations you can always mount the ISO in Daemon Tools or CloneDrive and see what you got with your Build.

btw if you have a folder chose that option and go from there, if you want to add a file(s) then chose that option.

HTH......

Re: ImgBurn version 2.3.0.0

Does the new version produce CD-Images in the 2352 format only?

Re: ImgBurn version 2.3.0.0

Assuming you're talking about the new 'Read' mode:

For CD's, yes 2352 or 2048 is used.

For DVD's (and HD DVD / Blu-ray), it's always 2048.

Re: ImgBurn version 2.3.0.0

How do I force it to produce CD-Images in the 2048 format? How does it decide what format to use for CD-Images?

Re: ImgBurn version 2.3.0.0

If the original cd was mode 1, it'll read in 2048 mode. If it's mode 2, it'll read 2352.

Re: ImgBurn version 2.3.0.0

I tried it with a data CD and it has produced a MODE1/2352 CD-Image. Other programs produce an MODE1/2048 ISO file when used on the same CD. This doesn't seem right.

Thanks LUK for the heads up! Quite reasuring you are.

Shall I assume the rest of the settings are best at their default values?

There are the four tabs in build mode (Info/Options/Labels/Advanced).. which should all be left alone, right? Except the labeling tab of course.

Oh! Just out of curiousity.. what UDF version does ImgBurn use? It's the DVD-compliant version, right?

[ I've gotta stop being so darn skeptical and just let it all go! ]

Re: ImgBurn version 2.3.0.0

Zorkzero,

Take a look in the info window on the right within ImgBurn (you'll need to be in 'Read' mode and have the disc in question in the drive).

Where it mentions the TOC stuff, what does it say?

It's probably easier to just copy + paste everything!

zoinbergs,

Yes, leave them all alone except for the label - and you don't even really need to change that! If you leave it blank the program will try to generate one for you and then give you the opportunity to use that (or change it).

Oh and yes, it creates a UDF 1.02 filesystem.

Re: ImgBurn version 2.3.0.0

Yeah just as I thought... that drive isn't returning a known 'mode' for the track - hence 'Mode 15' in the info window where it should actually say 'Mode 1' or 'Mode 2'.

I've added a workaround for that now.

I think it's just a problem when you read such discs in old drives (i.e. basic cd reader).

Put it in a DVD burner or whatever and it would probably work fine.

Re: ImgBurn version 2.3.0.0

The new version 2.3 seems stop record the recorder info to DVD.
W/ 2.2, when I check the disc w/ Nero cd-dvd Speed, it shows the recorder which written the DVD.

When I upgrade form 2.2 to 2.3, I chose the keep current setting.

Anyone else notice that or can help me. TIA!

Re: ImgBurn version 2.3.0.0

That's not anything the software does, the drive does it depending on the media you're burning to.

Thank you. It seems work well w/ -R disc, not working w/ booktype DVD-ROM's +R disc.
