ImgBurn problem with Samsung SH-203B

This is my experience with the Samsung SH-S203B whenever I try to burn a DVD9 img on to a Verbs DVD+R DL Disk using ImgBurn:

"Optimal L1 Data Zone Start LBA: None Found! (VTS_04)
This image has not been mastered correctly for burning onto a double layer (OTP Track Path) disc.
None of the cells meet the "DVD-Video specification" criteria for a potential layer break position."

However, my Plextor drive burns the Verb MIS DVD+R DL from the same img file using ImgBurn with no errors. I am not sure if I have a incorrect setting in ImgBurn or the Sammy is having a problem.

I have searched with google looking for a resolution to my problem but have not found any thing that actually fixes the problem.

As always any and all comments are always appreciated.

Thanks s0ccerb0y

Re: ImgBurn problem with Samsung SH-203B

Unless your drive is badly misreporting it's size/layer break info on that media, the issue is with the image file itself.

Put a blank verb dl in the samsung and copy + paste everyting from the info window on the right of the main screen when you're in Write mode.

Re: ImgBurn problem with Samsung SH-203B

ok, nothing wrong with that.

If your dvd9 image wasn't made correctly (as would seem to be the case), just extract it and then rebuild it in build mode and use the nice layer break selection window to choose a decent cell for the layer break.

Re: ImgBurn problem with Samsung SH-203B

Don't burn Verbatim DVD+R DL's (MKM-001-00) at 2.4x on the Samsung, the burns are far worse at that speed than at 4x - and they often fail!

Re: ImgBurn problem with Samsung SH-203B

Hmm no idea then, sorry.

I get quite nice DL burns from my 203B on MKM-001-00 media if I burn at 4x. If I burn at 2.4 they're awful or fail.

Where are your discs made? (country wise)

Maybe you've got a duff batch?

crazy thing is that I don't have this problem on my Plextor drive at all.

over clocking a possible problem? I did upgrade the firmware to codekings sb01. maybe i should go back to Samsung SB01 firmware.

LIGHTNING UK! First I just to say thanks for all your help.

I upgraded the firmware on my Sammy to CodeKing's SB01.

I used my Singapore made DL Verbs with ImgBurn set at 4x as you had suggested.

I set the layer break when asked and the burn worked without any problems.

Now, I will have to try to burn straight from the img file instead of using winrar to extract and using build mode in ImgBurn to see if that is working now.

Thanks again

Re: ImgBurn problem with Samsung SH-203B

Why is WinRAR involved, because it sounds like you have a file association problem?

The original problem was with layer breaks when trying to burn from an img file using ImgBurn on my SAMMY. I used winrar to extract the files from the img file in to a VIDEO_TS directory. Then I changed ImgBurn mode to BUILD and pointed ImgBurn at the source directory to write to the destintation, S203B. I was still experiencing problems during the burning of the second layer.

I had found where other ppls had layer break problems on the ImgBurn forums. There are guides that to show how to use ImgBurn in Build Mode. WinRAR was used because it was recommended to extract the files.

Everything seems to work now when using ImgBurn in Build mode. I will try using ImgBurn in Write Mode using a img file as the source .
