Hi
Thanks for the thanks folks.
But as pinto2 points out.
All the thanks should go to ala42, without who this probably wouldn't be possible.
So ala42

Hi
Thanks.
Despite having SnagIt, I use WinSnap for most of my pictures.
Though if I have the time or require some more specialised stuff. SnagIt does come into its own.

Re: Pioneer & MCSE patching.

Thank you for these very complete instructions, zebadee. Very nice work. But I have a couple questions and hope I'm not just being dense.

Is R115D.exe the same as R215D.exe or do I need to use R215D with my SATA drive?

Is there any advantage to using DVRFlash or Rx15D? It looks like the firmware can be patched to use with either program so I assume the end result is the same. But is the Pioneer flasher better than DVRFlash or vice versa?

You said that the "_speedpatched" can remain at the end of the patched firmware name, but ala42 has said that the Pioneer flasher requires the original file names. I'm confused.

If the longer filenames can be used for the firmware, does that also apply to the patched flasher (i.e., R215D_speedpatched.exe)?

Thanks again.

Re: Pioneer & MCSE patching.

Hi
@ NOTS3W,
You need to use the flasher relevant to you.
So R115D.exe.
DVRFlash has the advantage that it can force flash, so no need to patch the flasher.
MCSE patched f/w, will in my experience (thinking mainly of BenQ here). Has worked with the new name tag.
However it is better to keep the original name.
Newer drives probably are more susceptible to file name changes too.
If you want more than one patch.
Say you have 2 identical drives.
You want the reader/ripper to be speed read/rpc1 patched only.
The other used as burner only to just have bitsetting.
In order to to keep separate/make easy to identify.
Allocate folders with appropriate names.

Re: Pioneer & MCSE patching.

Help

i have a Pioneer DVR-215 SV

downloaded 1.18 firmware

applied RPC1 Patch and Bitsetting option

saved

applied patch to the original R215.exe to enable reflashing

succesfully reflashed my DVR215.

burned a Verbatim DVD+R SL 4X with CloneCD, but bookType remained the same...DVD+R (i need DVD-ROM)

it wont change booktype for DVD+R ?

tried the process twice.

same result.

any ideas ?

thank you

Re: Pioneer & MCSE patching.

thank zebadee

i've already patched my 215 and first i tried to burn some 2,5 Gb, *.nrg image with nero 8, 4X and gave me some errors but finally closed the session and lead out.
Media is readable and it's DVD-ROM.

also tried to emulate that image with Daemon, then copy CD with CloneCD 5.3.1.3. Media came out as a DVD+R

last try was with same image, Nero 8, 4X, and everything seems to work perfect. Media booktype is DVD-ROM.

one thing : it spins the CD\DVD with very high speed insinde when inserting some media or accessing it.

as a media type only used Verbatim DVD+R SL and tried with 4X.

After burning, booktype checked with DVDInfoPro.

hope everything will be ok.

thank you for your time and for helping me.
