Great concert. Seems it was the beginning of The Traveling Wilbury's.

Re: What was the last Blu-ray and HD DVD movie you watched?

Seen a few since I got my A3 so here they are: Batman Begins, Serenity, Top Gun and I have started watching the Planet Earth Series (coming in at random from netflix). I have a bunch of other rentals coming so I will keep updating. Incidentally all of the aforementioned are on HD-DVD, in case you were wondering.

Would be intersted to know if yours seemed grainy at the part were he is being attacked by the fence (at night) and she removes the little transformers head with the saw. Mine did not look good at all during that scene.

You mean the 15 seconds scene around 54:25 mins - 54:40 mins? I think it's the effect of smoke, backlight and night shot giving a blueish background?

Casion Royale - bluray. Very good James Bond. This movie really shows off your HD display.

Yeah a little bit but the rest of the movie is phenominal and as always YMMV when it comes to your set. I only wish I had one of the 10,000:1 or 15,000:1 Contrast ratio sets (ie Samsung, Sharp Aquos). I love my Westinghouse but sometimes it's 1,000:1 contrast ratio makes the dark scenes infuriating at times.

Mine is 25000:1 dynamic contrast and if set to dynamic mode (Full contrast and backlight) it is very noticeable and very grainy in the above mentioned scene. When set to standard mode it is quite a bit better and not as noticeable. So I guess there is no happy medium as far as contrast goes. Probably most of these numbers is marketing again. Brother just bought one rated at 500,000:1 contrast (Sammy LN-T4681)and I don't see any huge difference from mine or at least not enough to spend the $600.00 difference.

Re: What was the last Blu-ray and HD DVD movie you watched?

It's all still a work in progress (high def in general). Anyways, I watched Sky Captain and The World Of Tomorrow on HD-DVD last night. All things considered it looked pretty good. That being said I'm glad it was a rental and I won't purchase it unless there is a really good sale.

Currently watching the 1938 version of Robin Hood in HD-DVD. All things considered (it was originally released in 1938 for goodness sake) the picture is great.

Don't get to caught up with this.

This article is a little old, but it will give you some insight on subject. It can get quite technical if one digs into it.

Re: What was the last Blu-ray and HD DVD movie you watched?

The Ant Bully on HD-DVD. Picked it up as a rental from netflix simply to see what CGI movies look like and the picture was excellent. I have to say I think I got a stronger laser with my current A3 than my last one. This one thus far isn't as fussy with rentals as long as I clean them before I watch them.

Blue Planet HD, only 45 min. but most of it are pictures of earth from space. Absolutely stunning visuals. Well worth checking out. Rented from Blockbuster online.

HD-Ray? I take it you ripped and then burned it to a BD-R? Must be nice to have all that money.

Re: What was the last Blu-ray and HD DVD movie you watched?

Yes, it's HD DVD version of the movie, watched the "converted" one on PS3. But not just as easy as rip and burn.

The conversion is quite lengthy but the end result is great. The VC-1 video conversion to MPEG2 took longer than expected (around 2 hrs, with 20% increase in file size) but the quality is as good as the original. Audio is converted to 5.1 Dolby Digital though so I can't enjoy the glory of DD Plus.

Unfortunately I can't do Transformers, the DD+ conversion to DD doesn't work. I guess I will have to wait until Universal release it in blu-ray, not sure when or if that's going to happen.
