Re: Universal to Embrace DTS-HD Master Audio

Good to know they are putting some extra space to good use. Paramount seems to be going with Dolby True HD for BD. To me the best sound so far with the new audio codecs are Dolby True HD, DTS HD Master and uncompressed pcm. Now bring on more 7.1 titles.

Re: Universal to Embrace DTS-HD Master Audio

7:1 lossless audio isn't going to happen for a long time, due to the limitations of current HDMI standards as implemented. Once HDMI 1.3 is more common, maybe.

Re: Universal to Embrace DTS-HD Master Audio

I have a about 6 BD titles in 7.1 DTS HD Master, DTS HR and 7.1 PCM audio They sound very good but the 7.1 titles are few and far between. One would think the uncompressed PCM is going to go the way of the Do Do bird. Requires too much space. For example a 3 hour movie would require approx 12Gb of space for 7.1 uncompressed PCM while the compression of True HD and DTS HD MA would only use half of that space and then let the player uncrompress it bit for bit idententical to the original track. But most people already know that right?
