Ultra High Definition
Super Hi-Vision video format.
Resolution 7680x4320 = 16x greater than current standard.
22.2 multi-channel surround system.
Minimum 60" screen.
Standard by 2015, broadcast by 2025.

We have several years to prepare ourselves.

I seem to recall test audiences getting motion sickness from UHDTV. They were sitting super-close to the movie (where the improved resolution would actually make a difference to the eye), and their minds were being tricked into thinking that the movie was real.

It's what we call being part of the picture and to me it makes the experience more enjoyable, especially if what you are watching is good.

Playing 3D games makes ppl sick too. You have to get used to the new experience. And today’s generation of kids…well…I don’t think you will be able to make them sick with a screen strapped to their face…

On second thoughts. I don't want a TV that size in the first place.

"Step beyond HD" is what you want you guys are discussing? Lets extrapolate a bit…

OLED technology…maturation much owed to US defense spending for battlefield use. DARPA, DoE, you name it, they fart your tax dollars onto those wafers… But looks like this time civilians are getting it first.

Why buy a TV in a box that you and your cousin will lug from the store. Just strap it onto your back like an architect, bring it home, unroll it, and tack it onto any wall you want.
