Re: It's official HD DVD is dead

I bought my son an A30 for Christmas, it was for a good price and he received many HD-DVD movies he really liked.

Considering there will be a fire-sale on HD-DVD movies soon and the fact that it is an excellent upconverting DVD player I don't really feel I have lost money but for the long run it is depressing to have boughten the losing format.

Well I still will be holding out since my upconverted dvd player is awsome at 720p! Sony will have to wait for my money.

I think it's an upset that there will be no HD-DVD-RAM in the future. DVD-RAM was so awesome.

So does this mean that Universal and Paramount are eventually going to reissue their current HD catalog on Blu-ray?

I would assume they would, since Warner Bros. has already stated that they will be doing this over the next two years.

Re: It's official HD DVD is dead

Universal has already announced that it will start releasing titles on Blu-Ray. As for two years, YIKES!!!!!!!! Makes me glad that I have been buying HD-DVD titles for cheap. I just purchased Batman Begins (currently HD-DVD exclusive) for under $15 today at Hastings. It was used but the disc is immaculate. Looks as if the person watched it once and then sold it.

Re: It's official HD DVD is dead

I suppose the existing titles problem might not even be an issue. They are working on NAND Flash and stuff. Perhaps by that time you will buy movies on a small piece of plastic that can fit in your new SHD-DVC (Super High Def - Digital Versatile Card) machine. The player looks like a credit card! No motors and trays! And you can also put it in you iPod pico and watch it on the bus, too.

You still have DISCs??? ...those take up so much room! Transfer your HD-DVDs to your SHD-DVCs (since copy protection isn't as good as those ugly blue things anyway)...and just throw them out! You wanna be like Grand Pa??? Look at his room filled with old VHS tapes? Whatta mess!
