Dish to offer HD only package - Club CDFreaks

Hope this is in the right forum.

Starting in Feb, Dish Network is slated to begin offering an "HD Only" programming package. Rumored fees are as follows:

All HD package $29.99
HD Premiums $10.00
Locals $ 5.99

No SD channels are included.

Presumably, receiver and DVR fees will be extra, and a 2-year commitment may be required. The HD premiums pack is an exceptionally good value, if it includes them all.

Interesting. They need to load it with documentary channels to get the most out of it.

I just made the switch, from Dish Top-200 + HD + showtime to the new HD-only package + showtime. With the receiver, tax and DVR fees, my monthly bill will go from $93 to about $63. Plus, I'll be getting several HD channels that I wasn't getting before on the 200 package, like NGC and Science channels.

Finally, I'm rid of 200 channels of useless crap.
