| Is it worth it? Ok, im planning on buying a new tv. It isnt massive (27") but i would like to know if it is worth buying with all this hd-tv crap. Is it worth waiting and buying a tv later because hd-dvds will make the tv (i am planning on buying) obsolete, or should i just go ahead an buy a non-hd ready tv, and not really worry about it? I know there is a thing at the mo about blu ray vs hd tv.... but i think hd tv is going to end up more popular, for the tv anyways ![]() Cheers Ciggy |

| Re: Is it worth it? yikes, you're asking us to predict the future... how badly do you need a new TV? if you have one that works I'd say hold off, but if yours broke or you don't have one then go for it. i still have the same 13" TV that i got for christmas when I was 9 years old. it still works so I can't bear to get rid of it, but that's just the way I am. I need it to break before I can justify getting a replacement. also, think about your price range. The HD models will come down in price substantially within the next few months probably, but they still won't be anywhere near your basic run of the mill 27" color TV. if you're not willing to put a good chunk of money into it, then waiting isn't going to do you any good and you should just get the regular TV now. besides, you're young! save your money for big TVs and other cool toys for when you get your own place and can impress girls ![]()

Once you have analogue vs digital decided, blue-ray and hd will (should?) both play the same? IOW--the media war is over the player and not the viewer. As I understand it, not much difference in even these players with screen dimensions below 27 inches and you are paying attention? I have to agree with reason though--I've got a Panasonic Big Screen that is 16 years old and won't break. Picture only slightly dimmer than brand new. I expected it to break 8 years ago and it just keeps going. When it goes, I'll be getting a high definition monitor and get my signal/tuner from my cable provider. /// bobbo. | |

| Re: Is it worth it? I would say, upgrade to a 32inch 100Hz widescreen CRT TV. You can get them second hand cheap. Good picture and 100Hz is nice, you can watch as much as you want without getting bad eyes. I want to get a new TV but I will have to wait for the SED TVs, they will put plasma / LCD to shame ![]() Plasma and LCD TV's are to expencive for me plus I don't like it that they could get damaged and showing dead pixels. I still think that the switch from analog to digital TV gave much better TV picture than going from digital to HDTV. The technology is still to new and to expencive, not worth it. You could however get a small TV that supports HDTV and all of that, like 21inch widescreen maby ? |
