Hi all

I have just bought a Panasonic TH42PX60B plasma screen, and I will be using my Xbox 360 to play HD-DVD's. However, I was just wondering if there was any benefit in buying an upscaling DVD player to play my Standard def DVD's. Will I see that much of a difference compared to a normal player bearing In mind my current one is nothing special.

I was thinking of getting either a Samsung HD-960 (If i can get my hands on one) or a Sony NS76H.

Anyone got any comments / alternative player suggestions?

hi there,..im new here,..i have a very cheap tevion upscaling dvd with hdmi out[aldi store],..the best resolution setting i find is 720p,.its an amazing little unit,..with the right tv settings , and well transferred films , or series shot on hi def,..its much better than scart composite or RGB ,.BUT THERE NOT AVAILIBLE ANY MORE,..ive been told the SONY rdrmxd860,..with hdmi out,..is great ,..it can record on hard disc and dvd and upscale to 720p or 1080i,..a good source says its really good,...check out ebay,..but as you know its never going to be as good as true hi def [blueray or hd dvd or sat hd] but its still very enjoyable,...check them out,good luck ,dobrocop.ps ,dosent ps3 upscale sd dvd,s?

Get a new standalone from Pioneer, they have upscalers built in.
