HDMI Switch or Splitter? I have an HDTV with only (1) one HDMI input that my DVR is hooked up to and would like to hook up an upconvert DVD Player/Recorder with HDMI output. Do I use an HDMI Splitter or a Switch? Could someone recommend a manufacturer for either one and where can I purchase it from? Thanks in advance, ![]()

Re: HDMI Switch or Splitter? Had the same problem with my 51" Hitachi... after quite a bit of research, this is what i bought.... OUTSTANDING auto-switching HDMI switchbox: IOgear HDMI switch. Trust me, it will do everything you need it to....havent even had a need for the remote control yet.

Re: HDMI Switch or Splitter? You can get one at a fraction of that price at monoprice: http://www.monoprice.com/products/su...01&cp_id=10110 Or: http://www.hdtvsupply.com/hdmi-13-switch.html get at least a 3x1 so you can grow into it. Many like Geffen are way over priced like Monster cables. Just a waste of money, you will never tell the difference. Mine is auto sensing, I don't even have to use the remote. When I turn on the dvd player it senses it and switches automatically. When I turn of the player, it goes back to the cable box.

Re: HDMI Switch or Splitter? IMHO if you think that the stuff at monoprice is whats best then go with that.... but the majority of these "discounted" HDMI switchboxes are either push-button (why WOULDNT you want an auto switch?!) and only have 2-3 ports available, (just going to have to buy another down the road) Seems like the recommended HDMI switchboxes are either just as expensive as the one i reommended, or are very discounted because they're cutting costs with no remote, no auto-switching, etc. I've tested about 5 different brands of these switches, and i can tell you that they are NOT all created equal....I'm not talking about signal preservation, but the actual craftmanship of some of these boxes are NOT what you would expect when you get them in your hands. It's up to you, though im willing to bet anyone who recommends against the IOGEAR switch hasnt ever tested one of them out....they are outstanding. ![]()
