HDTV Display Devices, Recorders and Programming Discuss, Direct TV DVR, transfer to DVD at International Chat: High Definition forum; I'll probably just get laughed at, since I have Direct TV HD etc, but does anyone have any suggestions on copying the DVR content to DVD? Thanks

Re: Direct TV DVR, transfer to DVD

Only thing you can do is record the output on a DVD recorder vis composite or Svideo connects. No HD copy is possible, no way. You can either set the DTV box to output letterboxed 16:9, or set it to output a "stretch" image that you can later re-stretch to 16:9 with your monitor. In either case you will get 4801/p images.
