Yep, looking at a Yamaha which will fit the bill, but for now I will hook up an my old 5.1 Sony system until I have the money set aside.

The Yamaha 661 ($500) will do. It doesn't have the HD audio decoders, but you can feed it a lossless PCM 5:! stream and let the player decode. It will also let you over-lay DD decoders like PLIIx onto 5:1 to create 7:1. So you don't really NEED bitstream HD audio and HD decoders, it's just nice to have it. The Onkyo 605 has the HD decoders, but does not allow you to over-lay decoders onto 5:1 sources to get 7:1. Right now, virtually all HD discs have 5:1 audio, so the ability to over-lay is a help.

Well, the Samsung is home but it has to go back to costco in the morning. Wife picked it up and brought the receipt back and the sale price is off so she paid 449.00 for it and its on sale everywhere else in town for 399.00.

I am not much on good luck I guess.

What the hell, I could not wait. Hooked up the Samsung 1400, powered it on and tossed in Ice Age The Meltdown.

Wow, the picture quality is great. I do not think it looked that good at CC.

So easy to set up; used the HDMI (cable included in the Costco package) and ran a an Optical cable from it to my Old Sony Receiver 5.1 and instantly thought I was at the movies.

Yes sir, with the latest firmware update the 1400 will play the R and RE discs.

Made a backup of Ice Age last night, had to remove one of the extras from the backup to the hard drive to get it to fit on the RE media; burned it with ImgBurn and it is playing in the Samsung as I type and it really looks great.
