How do I edit my HD movies?

I've recently bought a SONY HandyCam HDR-SR7E, with builtin hard disk. So far, I've recorded all takes in HD quality. I'm an amateur and have no ambition to create movies for the public, but I would like to cut and edit my movies so at least some of my friends will find it worth their time to see them. If at all reasonable, it would be nice if the resulting movies are also HD, but maybe that is not realistic? I have also bought a SONY DVD recorder RDR-HX750 and plan to buy an HD-ready TV. Sony's accompanying program Picture Motion Browser lets me create DVDs with the clips in AVCHD format, but I have not been able to play these in the DVD recorder (it says there is no title), not has it been possible to play these DVDs in Sony's Player for AVCHD.
My question is: What would be a reasonable path for me to follow?

Regards,

A dvd player has never ever support for such an HD format.
Maybe browse videohelp.com fro more info.

Re: How do I edit my HD movies?

You need a blue ray dvd player or you can buy the new Sony playstation. That's what I did and it plays my dvds.
