Pl Help me choosing an external enclosure for DVD Writer

Hi All,

I own a Dell Inspiron 4150 laptop which has USB 1.1 port. I bought HP DVD 630i Internal DVD Writer. I am planning to buy a combo usb/firewire carbus to add usb 2.0/firewire functionality to my laptop.
By looking at the above, which is the best suitable external enclosure for the DVD Writer. Please help me to choose?

Stick with Firewire for sure. Recommend any case with the Oxford chip.

What if my notebook only have usb ports? Which chipsets are recommended for the external enclosures then? Hopefully some that can support burning at 16x?

AFAIK, there are no USB chipsets that will support a 16x burn. Many will only do 8x, and some will do 12x. Often, the limiting factor is the motherboard USB controller itself. Also, very few laptop hard drives will deliver a sustained data stream at those speeds.
