| Pioneer DVR-111D + External enclosure Hi. I have a laptop and I just ordered a Pioneer DVR-111D and I'm going to put it into an external enclosure. Do I just install it into the enclosure and connect it to the computer via USB/Firewire and it will work? Or is there anything else I have to do to make it work? Will any fairly new enclosure work or do I need a special one? For instance will this enclosure work? http://www.zynet.com.tw/product/ee/cd-r4.html I have never done anything like this before so I appreciate any help I can get. And another thing, what are the benefits of flashing the DVR-111D with the "The Dangerous Brothers" firmware? Thanx in advance // Matt |

Maybe you ought to get the dared thing checked out in its new ext. enclosure before you do all that flashing crap. Try a few burns. You might want to make sure that your new drive works before you flash it and void the warranty. Otherwise; set that sucker to Master & plug it in. (which is what I do... and if it does'nt work, it hits the bottom of the BFI can.) | |

| Re: Pioneer DVR-111D + External enclosure Thanx guys for your replys! And NO I won't buy the NSpire unit! I have been in contact with a retailer for http://www.mapower.com/Product.asp?CateID=44&LineID=2# and it is supposed to be compatible with the Pioneer DVR-111D. So I guess I will try that one. |

| Re: Pioneer DVR-111D + External enclosure If money not an issue, connect it to PC via IDE cable first, test it to make sure it works at all, then flash with an external firmware, like 8.26 ext from TDB, put back in the box. |
