External Enclosures Discuss, Pioneer 109 enclosure recommendation at CD and DVD Burners forum; Trying to decide on an enclosure for a Pioneer 109. Combo USB + 1394 is desirable as long as the USB side is at least 12x. Have done lots of research (big thread) and am now more confused because of some of the comments about the Dealsonic Plumax 525U2 vs. C2

Pioneer 109 enclosure recommendation

Trying to decide on an enclosure for a Pioneer 109. Combo USB + 1394 is desirable as long as the USB side is at least 12x.
Have done lots of research (big thread) and am now more confused because of some of the comments about the Dealsonic Plumax 525U2 vs. C2 speed and possible version differences on the Cypress AT2+.
Thanks

Re: Pioneer 109 enclosure recommendation

I've no problems with my Mapower KC 51 reaching 12x speed (Genesys GL811E04). Bursrate is only 17MB/s despite that i'm using the external firmware from buffalo with UDMA4. With my LG-Burners LG E10N/H22L i'm getting a burstrate between 20 and 23MB/s but i can't burn at 16x with the Mapower!
I think newer Mapower's with USB/FW have better chipsets like
OXFORD 912/911plus (FW800/FW400) & Cypress CY7C68300 & Prolific PL-3507
& MOAI M110B (USB2.0) -> new Mapower chipset!

Good luck!

Re: Pioneer 109 enclosure recommendation

I got this one with Cypress AT2+ and my BenQ 1655 got up to 16X. On the website it says get up to 20X for Pioneer/NEC/Lite-On, and Sony

http://www.dealsonic.com/usb20enfor52.html

And here is my benchmark

dont get the combo firewire/usb, too expensive, not worth it
