NEC ND-4550A via USB 2 enclosure & Taiyou Yuden DVD-R produced coaster after coaster - Club CDFreaks

My first test burn using NEC ND-4550A and TY DVD-R was disappointing – producing coaster after coaster. I’d appreciate someone could help find out causes of problems and hopefully fix them.

- Other burning software installed: Alcohol 120% (two virtual DVD drives
generated by A120% as seen in Nero Log)

My goal of the test was to burn data - some Divx/Xvid movies. I first burned four DVD+RW (Ricoh 4X | made in Taiwan) successfully. Pleased, I put my shiny TY DVD-R and set at 4X for burning. Nero barely was able to initiate the burning process. Bang! Then the following error…... The following is excerpt of the error message. I will provide a complete Nero log in the end of my post.

After the first coaster was produced, I subsequently tried burning TY DVD-R at lower and higher speeds 2X and 8X, but only the same problem reoccurred.

I am completely lost at sea about caused of the problem. Was any software setting wrong? Was I not using the right firmware? Was using the drive inside enclosure via USB 2 was a bad idea? Or the drive itself was faulty?
