NEC 3550a + enclosure suddenly not detected - Club CDFreaks

My 3550a and bytecc enclosure were working fine, now when i plug in the drive i hear the little sound that a usb was attached but the drive never shows up in my computer.

Is this a problem with the enclosure, the drive, or my computer? I also tried to update the firmware on the enclosure and i got "FAIL"

and I just tried it on another computer and it isnt detected on there either

so is the problem just the enclosure or is the drive busted too?

Yes, they sent me a CD with drivers, but I never needed them before. XP just automatically detected it then showed the drive in my computer. Isnt doing that anymore.

The only thing that I think could have changed was i turned off the enclosure when the drive was trying to read a disk.

turn on your nec enclosure same time with your comp. it work with me every time, I do have to same problem and that how I fix you can't just turn on and off during the time comp is on, it may and may not detected the nec

If you inverted the power supply you will kill your drive so be very carefull when connecting the power to it. Make sure you have installed the usb connectors to your mainboard if you are using the front usb.

plese help me,i have the nec 3550a and i have some big problems!when i inserted any dvd(few of them actaualyy works)in my computer they appear to be blank or my nero stars?what is the problem?i try to install new firmware but no luck!help me!

Most like you have bad enclosure one.

Make sure that there is no disk in the drive when you power it up and connect it to the PC. I had same problems. Remove the disk, power cycle the enclosure, once power is on and LED is off connect it to the PC.
