Nd3500A with ADS Dual Drive Link Enclosure

Hi,
I just got a Nd-3500A and I am having a problem with the ADS Dual Link external enclosure.
On the USB link, my laptop only recognized the 3500 as a cd writer, and not as a dvd writer. On the firewire link, the 3500 is not recognized at all. I am using XP Pro sp1 in a Toshiba Satellite 5200 laptop.
ADS tech support had told me to upgrade to XP service pack 2.

However, before I put in efforts to upgrade to sp2, I would like to ask if:
- anyone has used this combination of nd-3500 and ADS Dual Link enclosure and running xp sp1 successfully?
- either a laptop or a desktop?

Any comments will be most appreciated.
Thank you

Re: Nd3500A with ADS Dual Drive Link Enclosure

It functions for me in conjunction with a desktop running XP SP1.
However, I am unable to hit 16X speeds due to limitations with the enclosure.

There is alot of info on this here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=108420

Re: Nd3500A with ADS Dual Drive Link Enclosure

@tosdec,

Same think here, I had the ADS enclosure working in both Firewire and USB2 mode with a NEC 3500AG. USB2 gave me 19MB/s (12X) and Firewire only 13MB/s (only 8X).

This appears to be a problem with the Oxford 911 ChipSet and DVDs.

beach-hobo or Wesociety,

In order to get it going initially, even with the slower burn speed, was it plug & play or did you have to install other drivers to make it to recognize the dvd wiriter?

thanks

plug & play, automatically detected, installed and functioning right away.
