Benq 822a Plus on USB external enclosure

Hello. I have a Benq 822A DVD writer which I've been using with a IDE-to-USB converter cable based on the Genesys Logic GL811USB chip, and the drive has the B3JC firmware version. The problem I have is that the maximum speed I can achieve with the DVD drive is around 7X. This is no problem for reading discs, but trying to record a DVD at 8X will make the drive not work as expected (it will work fine for a while at around 6x, then it would slow down to about 1X).

My question, is that if it's possible to write discs at 8X (by reflashing the drive, new windows drivers, etc.). I've tried to read in the forums but didn't find any concrete results.

Thanks!
