3500a and FireWire External Enclosure problems.. Please Help

Recently I purchased a 3500a to be used with a FireWireDirect Ultra III 5.25" 800 External FireWire 800 USB 2.0 Enclosure Kit #16375.

Whenever I connect the 40pin IDE Cable from the enclosure to the 3500a I cannot even eject the tray.. When I unplug it I can eject the tray. That is as far as I have gotten because obviously you can't do anything without the IDE cable.. I've tested other IDE cables that I know to be working and it hasn't made a difference so it's not the cable.. Anyone have any ideas.. I would greatly appreciate it as support for the enclosure is kinda thin with very little documentation.

Thanks!

You may have issues with these 1394B enclosures and Optical Drives. I could never get mine to burn..took it back for a 1394A oxford enclosure.

Thank you very much for the reply. After contacting support at firewiredirect. .it appears as if the firmware on the enclosure does not play well with teh 3500a.. I'll probably RMA it. Although.. being a programmer.. it almost feels as If I'm giving up. .lol.. would rather be able to write some fireware for the enclosure.

Thanks
