2500a + firewire enclosure problems

hello

i recently got a 2500a with a firewire enclosure for my notebook. i am having problems burning dvd-video discs from a previously created VIDEO_TS folder. using veritas drive letter access seems to be fine. here are some of the symptoms:

1. when using nero 6.3.1.6 or recordnow dx, it burns until 73% done; nero comes back with: "error reading data" and recordnow just hangs at the same 73% mark.
2. the VIDEO_TS folder on the hard drive plays fine with windvd. i haven't stripped any of the content as it has the original IFOs, VOBs, etc.
3. in nero 6.3.1.6, i get the same error message at the same spot (73%) for a speed test every single time i run the speed test.
4. the 73% finished nero-burned, dvd+r disk plays fine in the 2500a using windvd until it reaches the 73% mark (skips to main menu). the 73% recordnow-burned dvd+r can not be recognized by the drive.

i read some other threads about people having problems with USB enclosures. they have seemed to remedy the situation by installing it internally, which, alas i can not do. it appears the 1394 controller is on a pci bus. is this the culprit?

nero infotool reports the built-in dvd-rom/cdrw drive as master on secondary IDE channel and the IEEE 1394 device as unknown.

thanks.

btw, here's the nero log:

Can you burn other files without any problems using your drive?
It sounds like the source files in the VIDEO_TS directory on your harddrive are corrupted.
Try copying the source files to a completely different portion of your harddrive and attempting to burn again.
Also, make sure to defragment your harddrive and keep at least a few GBs of free space available on the drive when burning.

ur case may have some problems - mine certainly doesn't come up as unknown device. if at all possible, try and change ur case for one which uses the oxford 911 chipset, as those are the top notch ones.
As Wes suggested, try burning from a different partition. Every time I burn from one particular partition on my system, I get errors at around the 55% mark (variable). Try another partition and see if it helps.

Did You remember to set jumpers on 2500a to master ?? I did at first and had the same problems with unknown device ... When I set jumpers to master and plug in the case again everything worked fine :-)
