1008IM firmware update in an external enclosure? - Club CDFreaks

Does anyone have a 1008IM in an external enclosure (USB 2.0, firewire or both)? If the answer is yes, has anyone tried to upgrade the firmware while being in the enclosure? Do I need to take the drive out and connect it to an IDE port in order to upgrade the firmware?

I have an usb 2.0/fw enclosure on which I use both interfaces. Ever since fw 557 it works great! Unfortunately, you can not update the FW without an IDE connection.

BTW, the drives works well with Mac OS9 with toast 5 and firewire.

Have you tried the 0057 for 1008ui (usb interface), you can find it on the btc homepage.

I was able to add the idstring to the 1008UI firmware loader along with the newer bin and loaded it successfully.
