When are hd-dvd and blueray recorders coming out? - Club CDFreaks

Does anyone know when internal hd-dvd and blueray recorders for the pc are coming out? And how much will they cost? It looks like dvd recorders are increasingly cheap because these technologies are almost here.

The real question is, given DRM on HD content, what will you be able to do with such a burner? The answer is probably: not much. Data discs will be about the only thing you can do, apart from authoring/upconverting your own video into a 1080i format. But we don't really know if the first HD/BD players will play recordable discs either.

So you're currently looking at a format that will cost many times more, per GB, to store data than current DVD does.
