Various ways.

Some stores are happy to send you samples of media ie Rima. Just email them and ask for TY DVDRs samples or other brands, but be specific (+R/-R etc).

For pre-released media (or drives), that's a different story. Basically you will need a contact direct from the manufacturers.

Re: RITEK 2x BD-RE Blu-ray media (RITEK BW1)

This is strange. The firmware supports the MID so it should not be a problem. I managed to do FULL ERASE on this RITEK BW1 disc with GGW-H10N although it took 1+ hrs to "initialize" (LED blinks once and stop for a while and blink again), then it started the normal erase (counting 1% ~ 100%).

Re: RITEK 2x BD-RE Blu-ray media (RITEK BW1)

I made another attempt to erase the RITEK BW1 disc. This one is a new disc, empty and unformatted.

As you can see from the log, it takes more than 2 hours to do FULL ERASE. The first 5-7 mins, the drive blinks constantly. Then it stops for few minutes (about 10 mins), then blinks again. Stop and blinks again. The status bar during this time is "Erasing disc...". After around 1hr 30 mins, it started counting 1% up to 100% and done. Looks good, so it's strange that the newer LG GGW-H20 can't erase the disc while the older GGW-H10N can.

Re: RITEK 2x BD-RE Blu-ray media (RITEK BW1)

Full erase of the same MID with the Sony BWU200S completed in about an hour and a half. No abnormal LED blinking just a steady process.

Re: RITEK 2x BD-RE Blu-ray media (RITEK BW1)

Ok so GGW-H10N and BWU-200S can erase this disc. I wonder why nekrosoft's GGW-H20L can't do it? Can someone else with GGW-H20L and RITEK BW1 confirm?

Re: RITEK 2x BD-RE Blu-ray media (RITEK BW1)

I also have a GGW-H20L and got the exact same errors as *nekrosoft13* with the RiDATA 2x 25GB BD-RE Blu-ray media.

I still have yet to try the RiDATA BD-R, anyone tried the RiDATA BD-R's with the LG GGW-H20L???

Good to hear - Thanks! At least one of the types of Ritek/RiDATA will work with the LG, I am going to try burning one myself today.

No, RITEK BW1-001 is not supported. RITEK BW1-000 is supported, occuring twice in the MID list.

Thanks "captmorgan4101" upgraded my GGW-H20L to YL03 and now RiData Ritek BD-RE's are burnable. So both RiData BD-R's and BD-RE's work in that drive, which is good because RiData's are the least costly Blu-Ray disks I've found so far. Mwave.com has BD-R's for $7.99.
