Request for List of BluRay Burners + Features / Picture of BD-R/RE? - Club CDFreaks

I don't know, but I seem to be having mass issues with getting my head around the BluRay burners.

First of all, does anyone MAINTAIN a list of models of BD Burners? I would like to know what's out there and what FEATURES there are - say BD-R DL support or speeds 2x/4x.

Secondly, I've never seen the underside of a BD-R/RE disc ... does anyone out there have a photo to share? Tried searching a bit but didn't see any ... unless i was assuming it has a colour similar to the discs we normally see and missed it ...

Thanks! I never realised that the list was so close-to-home ... but it does sound sad that LG is the only 4x BD-R burner, and Plextor is the only BD-R burner to burn BD-R DL @ 2x with the rarely available BenQ's only managing 1x and no other burners DL capable. If I do buy, i'm still a little mesmerised - I think Plextor is going to be more expensive than the rest.

Anybody have a picture of the bottom of a BD-R/RE/DL disc?

The Lite-On LH-2B1S Blu-ray writer should be able to write BD-R at 4x, with a future firmware update.

Thanks very much guys - never thought it looked that dark ... but anyway ... seems like I'm torn between either speed for SL BD burning or DL capable, slower burning....

The Sony and Panasonic drives are missing from the list ... and both are shipping.

The Lite-On is the cheapest and seems to be available. At least at newegg.

Either way it's too early to buy into blu-ray or HD DVD technology. When Players become more affordable then it will be a different story. In the meantime I strongly recommend the following:

Just got one of these yesterday and it is proving to be quite the machine. Yeah it is expensive but it is only a drop in the bucket compared to what even that Lite-On would run you.
