Region free/ fw help needed for Panasonic UJ 220

Hello,
just got this UJ 220 blu-ray and now realise that it does not have RAM. But I read the original firmware supports DVD RAM. Mine is from Dell... go figure.

Anybody can tell me WHERE to find and download Firmware for that drive, to make it first of all support all supported features and perhaps make it region free.

Thanks

This will not help you in any way.
You need to have a crossflasher for this - and such doesnt exist yet.

Re: Region free/ fw help needed for Panasonic UJ 220

So nobody knows where to download an original firmware for this drive? I could not find anything at panasonic.

What's a 'crossflasher' for ? I usually have NEW/Optiarc drives and just use the available flasher and fws that are available. Thought this might be the same way with the panasonic one, however, I don't know where to find it.

Re: Region free/ fw help needed for Panasonic UJ 220

Panasonic is the wrong address, DELL is correct for your drive. DELL OEM it is.
Why should the "original" firmware be posted? Normally no manufacturer provides the initial firmware releases, only updates and fixes within later revisions.

Crossflashing is flashing between different brands/OEM.

Did you try the DVD-RAM function yet?

I read that specs documentation from Dell for some blu-ray drives are incorrect. For example the UJ-210 specs from Dell (click here) doesn't support BD-R/RE DL but users reported that it burns blu-ray DL just fine with the OEM firmware. Try to check by yourself if your drive recognize DVD-RAM.

Re: Region free/ fw help needed for Panasonic UJ 220

I checked with Nero tools and it reports NO RAM.

I know from my dvd burners, Optiarc, I always have to flash with liggys fw to make it + and - DL.

So I was hoping someone has a similar site as Liggy with fws for the UJ 220.

Re: Region free/ fw help needed for Panasonic UJ 220

Speaking of the UJ-220 optical drives, has anybody burned/tested any BD-R/-RE's? Any performance charts or known issues?

And are these all Made in the Philippines? Or maybe there are Fujitsu N6470 owners with UJ-220's made elsewhere...? I wish I could check, but the drives are screwed in (non-modular) for the N-Series Lifebooks.
