Power DVD 7 Ultra and Bourne Ultimatum HD DVD - Club CDFreaks

For some reason power dvd ultra has a hard time with this HD DVD. It initially loads but not right away as it takes a bit to read this. The disc gets to the menu and I press play and it starts to play past the FBI warnings but when the main movie starts power dvd just shut off. This happened all three times I tried last night. Other BR and HD DVD's I tried played fine eventhough it does take power dvd ultra a bit to initially load the discs. Could this be just a bad disc or an internal error somewhere?

This particular title is reported as having lots of problems ie freezing, skipping on XBox HD DVD and standalone players. Maybe bad press. So try exchanging your disc until it works.

ok thank you zevia! Can't tell you what a joy it is having found the earlier version of power dvd ultra and now being able to play from hard drive. Do you know if future versions of power dvd will bring this feature back?

I don't know but I doubt. I read that there some pressures from studios because of blu-ray/ hd dvd downloads on torrents and made PowerDVD pull the support for harddive playback. Yes, it hurts us who own the original movies and wanted to archive on our htpc.

You still can, and play them too. Just rip them to ISO and mount on a virtual drive.

I see, then can the latest release of Power dvd ultra play them in this way? If so I guess its one way around this but not an idea way for people who want to do all this seamlessly, like playing it thru 'my movies' in mce 2005.

I tried PowerDVD 3516 playing ISO of a blu-ray mounted with Daemon Tools Lite 4.12.0. It didn't work.

Playing the mounted ISO using v3319a works. (?!)

Well but the 3516a is able to use the Profile 1.1 (PiP) and 3319a can't.

Which version of Power DVD supports play back from the hard drive if I may ask?

If I'm not mistaken, up to version 3319a.

Version 3319b and newer versions disable the movie playback hence you won't be able to get the menu selections, but you can still play the individual m2ts and evo files.
