For the moment I will stay with the current DVD standard, but I will definitely go for BD when the prices are on a acceptable level.

HD seems better, cheaper and more suitable for data storage... but this can change

It does seem they are going way overboard on the protection on these new formats? I understand they wanna protect thier IP, but this new scenero with having to have the player connect over the internet is gonna really be a problem for some. What about portable devices? Guess that is out? What about people with no internet connection? (will they have a 800 dial-up number as well?). I thought Divx (the Circuit City system) failed cause of over-restrictive playback means?
