@psychoace. We put up with a lot of stuff here but name calling is where I draw the line.

Same kind of stuff, slightly newer formulation I think.

The TDK stuff is pretty neat - I wish the scratch-resistant coat on my glasses was as good
Pity about the quality of the TDK DVDR's 'tho... I never had much joy with them compared to TY or Verb.

I wonder if it is to do with the coating as hwp suggests?

Re: Plextor Launches its First Blu-ray Drive!!!

Yeah; That's not too bad if you take a historical view.

IIRC the first ever 1x CD Burner would've set you back something like £5000 (Actually, might have been $5000...)

Wasn't that the 1x burner from Pioneer?
The "For General Purpose" not "For Authoring" burner...

The only reason I want it is for storage!

And in this regard, BluRay is better than HD-DVD in every respect.
Is see that too, but these days you cannot de-part them anymore...

Re: Plextor Launches its First Blu-ray Drive!!!

Yeah, that one. But I thought the 102 and then 103 were available to the "public", not the 101. Mh.

Re: Plextor Launches its First Blu-ray Drive!!!

I guess that it will still be at least half a year till Plextor release their self-designed drive.

Re: Plextor Launches its First Blu-ray Drive!!!

I have the Panasonic here. It works pretty well...YEP, the Sanyo guys are making a chip for both Blu-ray and HD-DVD..Looks like the new Plextor is a repackaged Panasonic. No Q Check interface yet....More soon.

Re: Plextor Launches its First Blu-ray Drive!!!

Just wait for the 8x - 16x Blu-Ray drives. This is what they always do, give us speed jumps in tiny increments making us think, WOW I can burn TWICE as fast now! WOOHOO! Please, give me a break. Just wait, the percentage of early adopters will be small due to the cost of the drive ($1000!!!). Plus, with computers you don't see or feel a difference in speed unless it's double or triple. Tiny bumps in speed are for bragging rights.

Re: Plextor Launches its First Blu-ray Drive!!!

Lite-On has announced a drive that can record BD-R/E DL @ 1x speed... that's 3h for recording a disc (4.5 MB/s and 50GB). Seriously, that's pushing the user's patience a little bit too much

Re: Plextor Launches its First Blu-ray Drive!!!

www.plextor.be as of today lists/links the PX-B900A as a new product in the what's new section. However the link itself is still dead.
