Hello, I am getting started with this HD-DVD format and I have a doubt, I downloaded a .ts file I have it burned in a dual layer DVD+R, someone can explain me what is a .ts file and what software (freeware) can I use for play it???.

A .ts or Transport Stream file contains video stream, audio stream and substitle and usually found in Blu-ray format movies.

You can playback using Media Player Classic, newer Media Player or VLC but you will need an audio and video decoder and I've seen some problems with all the above players ie not compatible with all kind of ts files.

So far playing back the ts (or m2ts) files with Nero ShowTime or PowerDVD Ultra works fine, but they are not free.
