Panasonic Announces Plans [and pricing] for U.S. Introduction of Blu-ray Discs

So, this is our first glimpse into what the prices of BD-R(E) media are going to be this spring:

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic, the leading brand of
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., today announced plans for the 2006
introduction of blank Blu-ray (BD) discs in the United States. The new discs
will be available in both 50GB and 25GB storage capacities which can be used
on BD drives with 2X writing speed.

The following four models will be introduced in the U.S. market this
spring:

Per GB prices are higher than current Hard Drive prices

Go HD-DVD!! (except the morons used 1080I instead of 1080P as Blu-ray does )

I think that the HD-DVD using 1080i insteado of 1080p can change, even though the standard is out there, since there are not any consumer products yeat and they might want to compete better with blu-ray.

Lets hope they do change it.
