Re: Panasonic 4x BD-R $9.99 at Frys

What's the MID on this 4x Panasonic BD-R?

I would suggest you get one or two BD-RE for testing. You don't want to waste $10 if something goes wrong. Oh don't forget to grab BD-RE DL to.

Re: Panasonic 4x BD-R $9.99 at Frys

Thanks, so it's MEI.T02 but it's not supported at 6x on GGW-H20L. You will need Verbatim 4x (MID: VERBATIMc). I heard Verbatim 2x (VERBATIMa) can also do 6x on the GGW-H20L.

Can you please check with DVD Identifier just to make sure the MID.

I've tried:
- Verbatim 2x and 4x BD-R and 2x BD-RE (Made in Japan)
- Sony 2x BD-R, 2x BD-RE and 2x BD-R DL (Made in Japan)
- TDK 2x BD-R and BD-RE (Made in Japan)
- Panasonic 2x BD-RE (Made in Japan)
- Memorex 2x BD-R and 2x BD-RE (Made in Japan)

All BD media above is good with the exception of two pieces of
- Memorex BD-RE (Made in USA) as I posted here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f142/memore...od-bad-234563/

Well, to those that can afford it, more power to you, I suppose. But yeesh... I'd put part of that money toward getting some regular TY instead. Can't justify $10 for one piece of media. No way.

My guess is BD-R 6x writing is supported on the GGW-H20L for:
MAXELLRS1
MAXELLRS2
TDKBLDRBB
VERBATIMa
VERBATIMc

It's not just one piece, it's 25GB or about 3 packs of DVD+R DL. Not much different in term of price. But of course you won't gain anything if you don't have the equipments (HDTV, burner, player etc), unless for data storage purpose.

Actually these were originally $7.99, from shortly prior to Black Friday (when they first got them in) until about one week ago (which was when Fry's gave these newer discs a new item number - along with this tiny boost in price). sneaky & dirty if you ask me, lol.

But the higher "per GB" price is not so bad (even when compared to TY) as it's the norm to pay some premium for convenience. This is the reason why people pay extra for DL.

strongly agree! ... especially when the price per GB aint even close to standard dvd+r's yet. (like 5x 4.7GB dvd+r's = about 1 25GB blu-ray recordable... so get get about the same price per GB ish or so it would have to cost NO MORE than about 2 dollars per blu-ray disc.... i figure anything over 3 dollars a disc just aint worth it at all.... cause i dont mind paying a small premium for ALL THAT SPACE on a single disc... but i would think 3 dollars is MAX MAX i would pay for it per disc myself.... although 2dollars ish or lower is MUCH better

i still think anyone who would pay 10 dollars or more for a blu-ray recordable should be shot (damn near lol) .... or maybe there just sick rich! ... either way i dont think i would buy blu-ray stuff even if i was sick rich just cause almost no one could use those disc that you record.... although im sure the people on these forums appreciate it for "testing reasons"

p.s. im basing dvd+r cost @ 40cents per disc.... it came out to about 5.3 DVD+R disc to have the same space as 1 25GB bluray disc but i rounded down to 5 (4.7GB)dvd+r disc = 1 (25GB) blu-ray recordable.

The problem is, it is very common to get 25-50pk spindle or even 100pk DVD discs with low price because of DEMAND.

News from my contacts from media manufacturer that demand for Blu-ray discs is very low compared to DVD discs (obviously) and another main problem is the blu-ray burners price. If the burner price can go $100 or max $150 then price of bd media will also go down, and we can also see more BD media in spindles of 25-50 pack.

Re: Panasonic 4x BD-R $9.99 at Frys

I realize this thread has been silent for awhile, but I would just like to report a great find & this thread seemed appropriate.

For those that have access to an AAFES store, they're selling 5-packs of Panasonic 4x BD-R's, for $16!!! & of course, NO TAX.

I asked to make sure that was the correct price, and YES it was.
