Re: New Drives: PX-B300SA and PX-B920SA

rebadge or original?? Well, LS means it's a rebadge I guess, but who knows...

This duo is a pretty smart step features/marketing wise, isn't it.

Most likely rebadges.

My guess would be we're looking at LGs GGC-H20L and GGW-H20L.

Ho-hum, more rebadges. Wake me up when (if?) a real Plextor gets released.

I Completely agree with hwp, LG GGC-H20L has the same specs and the PX-B300SA, and the LG GGW-H20L matches the PX-B920SA.

Re: New Drives: PX-B300SA and PX-B920SA

I have to wonder whether this is really just an LG GGWH20L rebadge, if it is the price point should be cheaper not more expensive.

Re: New Drives: PX-B300SA and PX-B920SA

Yeah, that's true. The LG theory makes sense. Unfortunately.

I guess eject and LED positions match. Although, it looks different!

But: Note that the PX-B300A ships with no PTP LE at all. LG drives never scan at all. So maybe no inclusion of PTP LE this time, because it's an LG indeed. Can't wait to know for sure.

Hmm, while the LED and emergency eject button matches, the LG GGW-H20N is 6x BD-R writer meanwhile the PX-B920SA in only 4x?

Re: New Drives: PX-B300SA and PX-B920SA

Hi
All i can say is it does't matter where you place it Plextor .ucked it up badly
i remember the times when there was a rumor a new Plextor drive would come out uh WE COULDN'T WAIT! What are the spec's when can i buy it and lots of REPLYS on the same day well check now just 8 replys !! WE WANT PLEXTOR INSIDE not a .uckin. rebaged drive with a Plextor logo on it.
Plextor do your home work and start building your own drives again!!!

Btw give as the source code for PTP/PTP XL so the once are left with a REAL PLEXTOR drive can fix the bugs you left as with so we can use the software we paid for (PTP XL) and enjoy the rest of the drives life time.

Please continue any discussion there and consider this thread as an announcement only.[/quote]

True. But it seems to me the 6x vs. 4x question is more or less academical anyway. Since 6x is written at 2.5-6x CAV while 4x is written at CLV this translates, if I remember it correctly, into something just above 21 min. for 6x and just above 22 min for 4x. So there is not really a noteworthy advantage to 6x. Even if you want the gain of that minute I'd still rather prefer a CLV over a CAV writing method. Much simpler to control and less prone to problems it usually gives better quality burns.

Re: New Plextor Drives: PX-B300SA and PX-B920SA

Yeah I was thinking that it's an LG drive with a firmware request from Plextor to limit the BD-R write speed to 4x.
