Minimum Hardware for BluRay/HD-DVD Playback?

Obviously no one knows for sure at this point, but what will be the minimum computer specs required to play the new high-res formats?

Thanks,
-Jonathan.

Your computer will have very little to do with it, other than the fact that you would need a 16:9 montior and a video card that supports 720P or 1080i resolutions.

If you are talking about copying HDTV content, that that's a different story. We don't know if the protection flags in HDTV content can be bypassed.

I'm talking about using your computer as a HD-DVD/BluRay Disc Player. Not about using your computer to copy HD-DVDs/BluRay Discs.

Pentium D 820 should be good enough for now. Perhaps most Athlons and P4s on the market today will do.
