The MEI T01 ones are good in my experience.

| Re: Memorex 2x BD-RE 25GB media: the good and bad It's quite possible caused by firmware issue but in GGW-H10N firmware 1.02, IMATN E_2 is supported as shown in attachment. I tried to full format/ full erase many times with 2 blu-ray drives, using CDSpeed, ImgBurn and DVDForm. Only ImgBurn "succeeded" until 100% after around 2 hours but then is still showing as "unformatted".

| Re: Memorex 2x BD-RE 25GB media: the good and bad Thanks for confirming ala42.  Does the GBW-H10N has somekind of "default" writing strategies for unsupported BD media just like in DVD burners? And yes I think it was in the GGW-H10N that it's finally reached 100% full erased after 2 hours, including many "inactivities" (the led doesn't blink at all for few minutes). I have to check again and make sure to format and burn on the GGW-H10N.

Disc has closed session.  imgburn claims quick erase has been successful  full erase fails with an error message  imgburn info  also notice that windows explorer claims disc is empty, but it can't be burned or formated. NOTE: AnyDVD was off

| Re: Memorex 2x BD-RE 25GB media: the old and new That's strange. With firmware update for the GGW-H10N, I'm able to do full erase with ImgBurn (more than 2 hours btw) and burn UDF2.50 video files. Since you seem to able to do quick erase with ImgBurn, can you try quick erase again and burn some data/video with ImgBurn. Your ImgBurn version does not support UDF2.50 but nevertheless your drive will be able to playback (UDF2.50 is standard for standalone players).

about the quick erase, i'm not even sure if that is doing anything, its abit to quick, 5-10 seconds.

If it accepts all the write commands without erroring out then you kinda have to say the process completed successfully - even though in your case it doesn't appear to have done. You can use 'Discovery' mode to basically do the same thing as a quick erase - only you can specify exactly how many sectors you want to zero fill. Then again, what are you expecting of your erased disc? That session / track in the TOC won't go away, BD-RE are like DVD-RAM and DVD+RW in that sense.

As you can see, the first error was at Sector 800 - which wouldn't have been written to as part of the quick erase. That's why it appeared to work but didn't. The drive simply cannot handle burning that media.

| Re: Memorex 2x BD-RE 25GB media: the old and new I manage to FULL ERASE IMATN E-2 with GGW-H10N latest firmware 1.03 that was released last week. During the process, the drive first doing something in the first 1-2 hours (led blinks and stop for few minutes and blinks again) then start counting 0%, 1% etc up to 100%. I think the erase took about 3 hours. Then I burned a full disc of video successfully. What is the drive doing during the first hours, LUK?

| Re: Memorex 2x BD-RE 25GB media: the old and new It's a 2 part process. The first bit is the drive doing it's own thing having been told to format the disc. The 2nd part is me writing zeroes to all the sectors (as in testing the 'format' command didn't appear to do that automatically).
