You don't need to crosspost in the Newbie since all of the message is in the first post you created, hence threads merged. This will make our knowledgeable members work more answering your same question in both forums/thread.

For backing up DVDs and/or Blu-ray/HD-DVD, you don't need 3+ Sheep burner, any good drive will work fine with AnyDVD HD and CloneDVD 2.

If you're really interested in burning high def stuff Blu-ray is about a year and a half ahead of HD-DVD, so you might want to re-think which format you need. If your kids tear through discs you'll be happy to know Blu-ray has scratch resistant coating. When you get Blu-ray discs from Netflix that have NO scratches on them you know it works well.
