OptodiscR16 16X DVD+R (intenso) - or optocrap is I use to call this manufacturer. Having that said, the result is very good.

Re: LG GGW-H20L : Scans and discussion here

so far i burned 5 types of BD.

3 types of BD-R and 2 types of BD-RE.

worst one so far would have to be Sony media. It won't overspeed.

actually it burns at 1.9x,

TDK 2x BD-R burned great at 4x, and Panasonic also burned nicelly at 4x (native speed)

Now i need to find a verb 2x and burn it at 6x

INFOMER30 16x DVD+R (philips). No previous experience with Infomedia, but I guess the result is fairly good!

Re: LG GGW-H20L : Scans and discussion here

Time to throw some shit media at this drive. China manufactured faked MCC03RG20 media.

It didn't really like this media and wrote an area at 0.7x! But the disc is still readable and quality result is not horrible.

Re: LG GGW-H20L : Scans and discussion here

i burned one fake Ricoh DL from Hong Kong in my H20 yesterday. results were ok, read curve was perfect.

just on layer split it was a bit bad, and it dropped to about 50 rating while scanned with SH203B.

I tried burning these fake Ricoh in 3 drives so far (DW1655, H20 and SH203B)

DW1655 results were horrible, SH203B better, but H20 had best results)

Time to throw more shit media at this drive. China manufactured faked MCC004 media.

It slowed down to 12x writing, and the quality result is not good.

Re: LG GGW-H20L : Scans and discussion here

Ritek.F16 16X DVD+R (Traxdata). Wow, first time I've seen this media code. let's see, this is the 4th Ritek 16X DVD+R media code! How many do they need, do their media suck so hard that they can't get it right at first try thus making new media with new codes all the time?

Anyway, looks like the drive has slight problems with this media, with writing quality issues after some OPC points.

Re: LG GGW-H20L : Scans and discussion here

I haven't seen a CD-R burn with this drive posted yet, so here is one.
TY burned at 40x. (probably not many people will burn CD-R with this drive).

Quite fast for 40x and a good result.

Re: LG GGW-H20L : Scans and discussion here

Very nice tests Jan70, OC-Freak and Dee-27. Good to see that this drive is handling a wide variety of media nicely.

Does anyone have any issues with BD-R/RE SL/DL? The older brother (GGW-H10N) I have is having problems with formating/erasing some newly released BD-RE and BD-RE DL media. Also when burning them into UDF2.50 format. The firmware used on the drive is new and those new MIDs are supported. Maybe someone can run BD-RE/RE SL and DL compatibility test for the GGW-H20L?

An 25Gb RE discs is what came with the drive, that is more or less what I have to test with!

Re: LG GGW-H20L : Scans and discussion here

Well, the problem only happens on a few *new* MIDs I own:
BD-RE: IMATN E_2 (Memorex BD-RE new style)
BD-RE DL: MEI T01 001 (Panasonic)

I'd like to see if the drive:
- idles during FULL erase (the LED stops blinking), and/or
- the FULL erase doesn't start counting from x% right away.
- also if you can, please burn a UDF2.50 video and playback on a standalone.

With those two MIDs above on GGW-H10N, I'm experiencing three mentioned issues above. Just wanted to check if the problem is related to media, firmware, software, compatibility or all.

On other "well known" BD-RE MIDs (VERBATIM0, MEI T01 001, SONY ES1, TDKBLDWBA), there's no problem at all, ie erase starts right away and no idle and UDF2.50 video playback fine on PS3.

Re: LG GGW-H20L : Scans and discussion here

Hi everyone,
I have been a long time reader of cdfreaks and thought I would finally join in on the discussion.

I am leaning towards buying the LG GGW-H20L but before I do what I would really like to know is about the movie playback of both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray Discs.

Can these be played back on a system without a HDCP compliant monitor or graphics card?

If it helps I am running WinXP and have a Nvidia 7800 GTX connected to 2xDVI 19" LCDs - neither of which I think has HDCP support.

Please disregard previous msg as I have just read some of the other threads in the forum and realised that my post is really in the wrong place.

nekrosoft13, are those data or movie? Did you test those burns on a standalone blu-ray player?
