Re: LG GGW-H20L : Scans and discussion here

Thanks Jan70 for posting those DVD-R scans. The Verbatim 8x DVD-R Archival looks great based on the TA jitter plots.

I'm thinking about a blu-ray burner, maybe the GGW-H20L, or something else if it's better. So far it looks like no blu burners report actual error rates or jitter data from BD-R or BD-RE media, is that right? So how do we know what media and what burner works best, or is most widely compatible with players?

It seems like the early DVD-R days again, where it was anyone's guess what media, from what burners, would actually play back reliably.

It's $330 at the egg now with free shipping. Don't think I've ever seen it cheaper than this.

Posted info about the LG BD-RE media here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f142/lg-2x-...-000-a-243523/
The MID is LGEBRE-S01-000, it is listed in ala42 table in the first page for firmware YL01 (here), so it's safe to have it.

Re: LG GGW-H20L : Scans and discussion here

2601, thanks for the Verbatim BD-R scans. The graph doesn't look good in the first 8GB, although I know that CDSpeed's calculation on LDC and BIS is not final yet, but at least from the scale we can see a raise in errors for the first 8GB. The Scandisc and TRT looks good. Still too early to intrepret the scans though.

Re: LG GGW-H20L : Scans and discussion here

I am very disappointed that that my Verbatim DVD+R DL (Made in Singapore) MKM001 are burnt at 2.4x. My old Pioneer burner was burning them at 6x.
Anybody found a way to fix this problem?

Ask Verbatim why they sell Dl 2.4x MII and then you have the answer.
