| LG GGW-H20 Blu-ray Writer/Player compatibility Hi- I recently switched to filming from DV to HDV and have until now been downsampling the edited footage to MPEG2/DVD. But, as I like the original picture quality so much, I'm considering buying a new, more powerful PC with an internal LG GGW-H20 Blu-ray Writer. However, I read somewhere that some players are picky with home-burned Blu-ray disks. I would therefore welcome any advice in this respect. TIA, Lou

| Re: LG GGW-H20 Blu-ray Writer/Player compatibility I mostly tested my home burned Blu-ray discs on my PS3 and all of them, using many brands of BD-R/RE disc, work fine. Friends with Samsung and Panasonic Blu-ray player also work fine.

| Re: LG GGW-H20 Blu-ray Writer/Player compatibility Thanks for responding. I'll be receiving my new PC with LG BD-burner in 2 days and in the meantime bought a Sony BDP-S300 BD player. I'll report back as soon as I've done some tests. Lou

Did it come with the GGW-20L burner ? Does it allow editing of HD video from Camcorder and Menu creation ? I have a PS3 and want to play my 1080i home videos via BD-R disks. However my computer is only Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz 2 GB Ram. Sata drive Gigabyte motherboard P4 Titan 848P. Graphics Geoforce4 MX440 with AGP 8x 64 MB. Plenty of Hard Disk space NTFL. I do not need to play Blue-Ray or HD DVD disks, just edit and burn Blue-Ray. Do you think my computer will be powerful enough ? What specs are your computer ? My first posting Bevcon | |

| Re: LG GGW-H20 Blu-ray Writer/Player compatibility Depends on what you mean with "edit"... The gfx card is long outdated.

| Re: LG GGW-H20 Blu-ray Writer/Player compatibility I already edit my 1080i high definition handycam videos in Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0 in HD format. I can then burn an .mt2 high def video file to a DVD using a conventional DVD burner. This data file will then play through the PS3 to my HD TV still in 1080i format. However I am limited to about 20 Mins. The graphics card has not been a limitation so far. I hope to do the same thing using the GGW-20L Blue-Ray burner but with true Blue-Ray format (Menus Etc) and without the time limit. |

| Re: LG GGW-H20 Blu-ray Writer/Player compatibility Hello Zevia Thanks for reply Wow on your computer specs. The CCW-H20L quotes Intel Pentium D 3.2 Ghz requirement. My computer is Intel Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz. Do you know if this is better or worse than the D spec ? Will the Cyberlink PowerProducer 5 also allow data backup to Blue-Ray disks ? In one of the more detailed specs for the GGW-H20L it is claimed that it will write to BD-R(SL LTH) 2X. Do you know if this is correct ? The Sony PS3 2.20 firmware upgrade will allow the plying of these disks. I understand these disks are now available, and will be cheaper because they can be produced using existing DVD -R production equipment. |
