So is this drive based on the original H20N/L? Anybody know what's under the hood?

have you tried setting book type on your drive yet?

on my GGW-H20, when i set booktype it worked a bigt different then my other drives.

after burn, it didn't recognize the media as DVD+R anymore, it just said DVD-Rom, MID was gone and Physical Format Information was changed as well.

I know on my system anyway it won't save the booktype after reboot, if you set it in Nero Burning Rom it will of course.

Burned at 8x. This media burns like crap on virtually all burners, but the H20L seems to handle it as well as any.

Sold as Verbatim Glossy Printable, burned at 16x

Sold as TY silver hub printable, burned at 16x.

Sold as Memorex 16x +R, this stuff has been basically 8x media in other drives. The H20L limits this to 12x, and it was burned at 12x.

It comes with an OEM version of the Cyberlink suite, including PowerDVD.

That's the idea, yes. Most people seem to prefer to get PowerDVD Ultra retail version. Many also use "Media Player Classic Cinema".
